Laser Sensors for Displacement, Distance and Position [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2019
Laser sensors can be used to measure distances to objects and their related parameters (displacements, position, surface profiles and velocities).

Mode-Locked Fiber Laser Sensors with Orthogonally Polarized Pulses Circulating in the Cavity [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Intracavity phase interferometry is a powerful phase sensing technique using two correlated, counter-propagating frequency combs (pulse trains) in mode-locked lasers.

Laser Safety Calculations for Imaging Sensors [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2019
This publication presents an approach to adapt the well-known classical eye-related concept of laser safety calculations on camera sensors as general as possible. The difficulty in this approach is that sensors, in contrast to the human eye, consist of a variety of combinations of optics and detectors. Laser safety calculations related to the human eye

Glass Substrate Dust Removal Using 233 fs Laser-Generated Shockwave

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
Eliminating dust is gaining importance as a critical requirement in the display panel manufacturing process. The pixel resolution of display panels is increasing rapidly, which means that even small dust particles on the order of a few micrometers can ...

Refractive Index Fiber Laser Sensor by Using a Fiber Ball Lens Interferometer with Adjustable Free Spectral Range

open access: yesSensors, 2023
In this work, a fiber laser refractometer based on a fiber ball lens (FBL) interferometer is proposed. The linear cavity erbium-doped fiber laser uses an FBL structure acting as a spectral filter and sensing element for determining the RI of a liquid ...

Polarimetric fiber laser sensors [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 1993
The beating between the eigenpolarization modes from a fiber laser is used to demonstrate an active, polarimetric sensor with direct frequency output. For the measurement of lateral stress applied to the jacketed Nd-doped fiber laser, a sensitivity of 4.8 kHz/g with a good linearity is obtained.

Laser Fluorescence and Extinction Methods for Measuring the Flow and Composition of Milk in a Milking Machine

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
Automation of milking systems is linked to accurate measurement of fluctuations in milk flow during milking. To assess the fluctuations of the milk flow, the formation and movement of milk portions in the milking machine-milk pipeline system was studied.

A new sensor for laser tomography on ELTs [PDF]

open access: yes1st AO4ELT conference - Adaptive Optics for Extremely Large Telescopes, 2009
We present a new concept for an optical differentiation wavefront sensor, featuring a high number of phase measurements across the pupil, with a linear response versus the phase gradient. We show measurements with this sensor, obtained though turbulence on elongated laser spots.

Phonon-Laser Ultrasensitive Force Sensor [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Applied, 2021
Developing nano-mechanical oscillators for ultrasensitive force detection is of great importance in exploring science. We report our achievement of ultrasensitive detection of the external force regarding the radio-frequency electric field by a nano-sensor made of a single trapped $^{40}$Ca$^{+}$ ion under injection-locking, where squeezing is ...

Comparative Study of γ- and e-Radiation-Induced Effects on FBGs Using Different Femtosecond Laser Inscription Methods

open access: yesSensors, 2021
This work presents an extensive, comparative study of the gamma and electron radiation effects on the behaviour of femtosecond laser-inscribed fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) using the point-by-point and plane-by-plane inscription methods.
