Distributed Brillouin Fiber Laser Sensor
We present a distributed Brillouin fiber sensor that operates by exciting a series of discrete lasing modes. This approach provides inherently wide dynamic range (5mε) while the narrow linewidth lasing modes enable low noise (8nε/√Hz).

Sensitive Spectroscopy of Acetone Using a Widely Tunable External-Cavity Quantum Cascade Laser
We employed a single-mode, widely tunable (~300 cm−1) external-cavity quantum cascade laser operating around 8 µm for broadband direct absorption spectroscopy and wavelength modulation spectroscopy where a modulation frequency of 50 kHz was ...

Control of Frequency Combs with Passive Resonators
Tailored optical frequency combs are generated by nesting passive etalons within mode-locked oscillators. In this work, the oscillator generates a comb of 6.8 GHz with 106 MHz side-bands.

This paper presents the design aspects of laser range finders and proximity sensors beingdeveloped at IRDE for different applications. The principle used in most of the laser rangefinders is pulse echo or time-of-flight measurement. Optical triangulation is used in proximitysensors while techniques like phase detection and interferometry are employed ...

Modular microring laser cavity sensor
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a modular microring laser (MML) cavity for sensing applications. The proposed MML permits much more design freedom compared with a traditional simple ring cavity by decoupling the performance parameters into several regions in the cavity.
