Observations of magnetic fields in intracluster medium [PDF]
AbstractThe presence of μG-level magnetic fields associated with the intracluster medium of galaxy clusters is now widely acknowledged. Our knowledge of their properties has greatly improved in the recent years thanks to both new radio observations and the developments of new techniques to interpret data.

The evolution of intracluster medium in stellar clusters [PDF]
AbstractStars in globular clusters lose mass through slow stellar winds that are retained by the stellar cluster and should contribute to build up a non-negligible intracluster medium over time. However, all the observations so far found only a negligible amount of gas in GCs.

Implications of a Nonthermal Origin of the Excess EUV Emission from the Coma Cluster of Galaxies
The inverse Compton (IC) interpretation of the excess EUV emission, that was recently reported from several clusters of galaxies, suggests that the amount of relativistic electrons in the intracluster medium is highly significant, W_e>10^{61} erg ...

Extragalactic Planetary Nebulae [PDF]
Planetary nebulae (PNe) can be used to trace intermediate and old stellar populations in galaxies and the intracluster medium out to approximately 20 Mpc. PNe can be easily identified with narrow-band surveys, and their chemical abundances and radial velocities can be measured with multi-slit or multi-fiber spectrographs.

To search for a signature of an intracluster magnetic field, we compare measurements of Faraday rotation of polarised extragalactic radio sources in the line of sight of galaxy clusters with those outside.

Probing cluster environments of blazars through gamma-gamma absorption
Most blazars are known to be hosted in giant elliptic galaxies, but their cluster environments have not been thoroughly investigated. Cluster environments may contain radiation fields of low-energy photons created by nearby galaxies and/or stars in the ...

Recovering true metal abundances of the ICM [PDF]
Recovering the true average abundance of the intracluster medium (ICM) is crucial for estimates of its global metal content, which in turn is linked to its past evolution and to the star formation history of the stellar component of the cluster. We analyze here how the presence of abundance gradients affects commonly adopted estimates of the average ...
