Left Atrial Appendage Closure vs. Oral Anticoagulation in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation: An Updated Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 3, June 2026.
Efficacy and safety outcomes from meta‐analysis of left atrial appendage closure versus anticoagulation therapy in atrial fibrillation. Pooled analysis of 3116 participants from four randomized trials demonstrated comparable composite outcome of stroke, systemic embolism, and cardiovascular/unexplained mortality between LAAC and standard ...

Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma: Diagnosis and treatment

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, Volume 10, Issue 3, Page 269-280, June 2026.
Vascular endothelial growth factor‐C (VEGF‐C)/vascular endothelial growth factor receptor‐3 (VEGFR‐3) and angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2)/tyrosine kinase with immunoglobulin‐like and EGF‐like domain 2 (TIE2) signaling pathways play an important role in lymphangiogenesis.

Restarting Anticoagulant Treatment After Intracranial Hemorrhage in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation and the Impact on Recurrent Stroke, Mortality and Bleeding:A Nationwide Cohort Study

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: -Intracranial hemorrhage is the most feared complication of oral anticoagulant treatment. The optimal treatment option for atrial fibrillation patients surviving an intracranial hemorrhage remains unknown. We hypothesised that restarting oral

Predictors of Brain Infarction in Pediatric Patients During Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 50, Issue 6, Page 909-916, June 2026.
In 179 pediatric ECMO patients, brain infarction (BI) occurred in 28% and was linked to markedly higher 30‐day mortality. VA ECMO mode (vs. VV) and higher pre‐ECMO arterial lactate independently predicted BI, supporting standardized neuro‐monitoring and liberal early brain CT, especially for children on VA ECMO.

Transcranial Doppler for the monitoring of gas embolism in neurosurgical operations in the sitting position

open access: yes, 1992
The risk of venous air embolism is significant in neurosurgical procedures performed in the sitting position. Monitoring for venous air embolism, therefore, is crucial and can be approached from several aspects.

Mechanical Thrombectomy in Patients With Cervical Artery Dissection: A Multicenter Analysis on Technical, Safety, and Functional Outcomes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims The safety and effectiveness of mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in patients with cervical artery dissection (CeAD) remain uncertain. This study aimed to evaluate the safety, recanalization rates, and functional outcomes of MT in LVO‐AIS patients with and without CeAD.

Detection of intracranial emboli in patients with symptomatic extracranial carotid artery disease.

open access: yes, 1992
Cerebral embolism from extracranial sources is an important cause of ischemic stroke. The purpose of this limited study using long-term transcranial Doppler ultrasonographic monitoring was to estimate the frequency of clinically silent intracranial ...

Impact of Intracranial Atherosclerosis and Cerebral Small Vessel Disease on Overt Vascular Events During Antithrombotic Therapy

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 6, June 2026.
In this prospective multicenter study, baseline MRI assessed SVD markers and ICAD severity, showing no graded association between ICAD severity and overall SVD burden, although ICAD was linked to more nonlacunar infarcts and fewer PVS. Over a median 2‐year follow‐up, severe‐to‐occluded ICAD independently increased the risk of ischemic events and ...

Prothrombin complex concentrate for oral factor Xa inhibitor reversal prior to urgent invasive procedures

open access: yesTransfusion, Volume 66, Issue 6, Page 1203-1209, June 2026.
Abstract Background Oral factor Xa (FXa) inhibitors are anticoagulants with no approved reversal agent for use before urgent invasive procedures. Four‐factor prothrombin complex concentrate (4F‐PCC) is used off‐label for this despite limited evidence regarding its effectiveness and safety.
