Women with a history of gestational diabetes mellitus have preserved sensory nerve‐mediated dilatation in the cutaneous microvasculature

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Women with a history of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have a greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease than healthy control (HC) women who had an uncomplicated pregnancy. Microvascular endothelial dysfunction, mediated by reduced nitric oxide (NO)‐dependent mechanisms, persists after GDM.

Low‐threshold cutaneous mechanoreceptors on the foot sole have enhanced sensitivity when skin temperature is elevated

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Schematic illustration of microneurography recordings used to examine the effects of local skin heating on cutaneous mechanoreceptor responses in the human foot (left panel). A microelectrode inserted into a peripheral nerve records single‐unit activity from tactile afferent fibres while controlled mechanical stimuli are applied ...

Nontumor‐Specific mRNA Sensitization of Cold Tumors to Immune Checkpoint Blockade: Evidence, Bias, and Requirements for Translation

open access: yesAdvanced Oncology, Volume 1, Issue 1, December 2026.
Messenger RNA constructs encoding nontumor antigens are proposed to sensitize cold tumors to checkpoint blockade. Observational survival estimates favor vaccination but are heterogeneous, and bias‐focused analyses find no significant difference once time‐zero is aligned. Epitope spreading remains undemonstrated in humans. This review separates what the

Drug Discovery for Snakebite Envenoming: Wanderings Amid Historical Antidotes and Emerging Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 21, 12 November 2026.
In this review, we provide an overview of selected historical antidotes against snakebite envenomation used in early modern Europe. Then, the evidence‐based antivenom activity of some natural compounds is discussed as resulting from more than two decades of research studies.
