Human sporadic breast carcinoma histotypes driven by the Human Betaretrovirus homologous to Mouse Mammary Tumor Virus

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 157, Issue 2, Page 371-383, 15 July 2025.
What's new? While estrogens, obesity, and alcohol are recognized risk factors for breast cancer, a viral hypothesis has been suggested based on the murine model of Mouse Mammary Tumor Virus (MMTV)‐induced mammary tumors. This study analyzed sequences of the human homolog of MMTV across human breast carcinoma histotypes, detecting the virus in all types

Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm complicated by a gastropancreatic fistula

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2019
One of the rare complications of low-grade pancreatic neoplasms is fistulization into nearby structures. This often does not present clinically, but is incidentally identified in patients who have been imaged serially to monitor the progression of the ...

Intraductal Papillary Neoplasms of the Bile Duct

open access: yesInternational Journal of Hepatology, 2014
Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct (IPNB) is a rare variant of bile duct tumors characterized by papillary growth within the bile duct lumen and is regarded as a biliary counterpart of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm of the pancreas.

A Serous Cystic Neoplasm of the Pancreas Coexisting with High-Grade Pancreatic Intraepithelial Neoplasia Mimicking an Intraepithelial Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncology, 2017
Serous cystic neoplasms of the pancreas are rare exocrine pancreatic neoplasms, most of which are benign and do not communicate with the pancreatic duct.

Higher order organizational features can distinguish protein interaction networks of disease classes: a case study of neoplasms and neurological diseases [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Neoplasms (NPs) and neurological diseases and disorders (NDDs) are amongst the major classes of diseases underlying deaths of a disproportionate number of people worldwide. To determine if there exist some distinctive features in the local wiring patterns of protein interactions emerging at the onset of a disease belonging to either of these two ...

Clinicopathological and molecular characterization of KRAS wild‐type pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas reveals precursor lesions with oncogenic mutations and fusions in RAS pathway genes

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 266, Issue 3, Page 337-351, July 2025.
Abstract Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs) with wild‐type KRAS constitute a small fraction of PDACs, and these tumors were recently shown to harbor frequent actionable oncogenic mutations and fusions. However, the clinicopathological features of KRAS wild‐type PDAC have not been well studied.

Heterotopic Pancreas within the Proximal Hepatic Duct, Containing Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm

open access: yesCase Reports in Surgery, 2015
We report a unique first case of benign heterotopic pancreas arising within the proximal hepatic bile duct, containing a focus of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN).

Pancreatic lipoma with a solid nodule mimicking invasion from adjoining intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2016
A 74-year-old man was referred to our hospital for a mass in the pancreatic head found during screening chest computed tomography. Contrast computed tomography showed a 5-cm multicystic mass with an irregular border containing a solid component showing ...

INN: Inflated Neural Networks for IPMN Diagnosis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) is a precursor to pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. While over half of patients are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at a distant stage, patients who are diagnosed early enjoy a much higher 5-year survival rate of $34\%$ compared to $3\%$ in the former; hence, early diagnosis is key.

A Hierarchical Transformer Encoder to Improve Entire Neoplasm Segmentation on Whole Slide Image of Hepatocellular Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In digital histopathology, entire neoplasm segmentation on Whole Slide Image (WSI) of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) plays an important role, especially as a preprocessing filter to automatically exclude healthy tissue, in histological molecular correlations mining and other downstream histopathological tasks.
