Intrahepatic Diverticulum—Common Hepatic Bile Duct
Archives of Surgery, 1964A technique for the removal of gallbladders and anomalies of the biliary ducts which are totally intrahepatic has rarely been described. Early attempts to excise these structures were complicated by hemorrhage from the liver. A drainage procedure has usually been considered the safest method of management.

Obstructing Phytobezoar of an Intrahepatic Bile Duct
Archives of Surgery, 1979Drainage of a choledochal cyst with a cystogastrostomy allowed food to reflux into the liver, where it obstructed a major right hepatic duct and produced recurrent cholangitis. Partial hepatectomy was necessary for relief. Drainage of choledochal cysts with a long Roux-en-Y loop seems advisable.

Intrahepatic bile ducts under the lens
Journal of Hepatology, 1985Etude des voies biliaires intrahepatiques au cours de maladies congenitales (maladie polykystique hepatorenale, hamartomes des canaux biliaires ou complexes de von Meyenburg, maladie de Caroli, fibrose hepatique congenitale) ou acquises (cirrhose biliaire primitive) angiocholite stenosante ...

Sclerosing Carcinoma of the Major Intrahepatic Bile Ducts
Archives of Surgery, 1957Primary carcinoma of the bile ducts may be extrahepatic or intrahepatic in origin. The clinical and diagnostic features of the more prevalent extrahepatic forms are well known, but considerably less information is available for the intrahepatic variety. 1-5 Carcinomas arising from the mucosal cells of the finer radicles of the intrahepatic biliary tree

Pathology and pathogenesis of intrahepatic bile duct loss
Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, 2001In recent years, the pathology and pathogenesis of bile duct loss have been extensively studied, and a number of hepatobiliary diseases have been added to the list of ductopenic diseases. In addition, the biology of biliary epithelial cells is now being studied with respect to bile duct loss, as well as biliary epithelial neoplasia.

Surgical resection of intrahepatic bile duct cancer
The American Journal of Surgery, 1969Abstract A case of intrahepatic bile duct carcinoma is presented to illustrate the clinical features that suggest the possible usefulness of an aggressive surgical attack on this uncommon and highly lethal lesion. Utilizing percutaneous cholangiography and intrahepatic palpation and inspection by dividing the left and right hepatic lobes, a rational ...

Intrahepatic Cholangiojejunostomy (Longmire Procedure) in Carcinoma of Intrahepatic Bile Ducts
Archives of Surgery, 1957A recent report1has emphasized the small number of cases of intrahepatic cholangiojejunostomy recorded since Longmire and Sanford2introduced this procedure in 1948. Its authors have summarized 28 cases, 19 procedures having been carried out for benign obstruction and 9 for malignant obstruction.

Diseases involving intrahepatic bile ducts
Current Diagnostic Pathology, 2005Summary Diseases of small, intrahepatic bile ducts encompass a wide range of clinical conditions in adults and children, requiring a different diagnostic algorithm for each patient group. Cholestatic biliary liver disease often presents a challenge to the pathologist since there may be considerable similarities in histopathologic biopsy features and ...

The purpose of this article is to compare the technical success and guidance of percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) in patients with nondilated and dilated bile duct systems using different techniques to supplement the conventional approach.Between 2006 and 2008, 71 patients (mean age, 66.6 years) underwent PTBD with 97 interventions ...

Morphological examination of intrahepatic bile ducts in hepatolithiasis
Virchows Archiv A Pathological Anatomy and Histopathology, 1988Numerous glandular elements are characteristically found within and around the intrahepatic bile duct walls in hepatolithiasis. These glandular elements were studied by reconstruction of serial sections and mucus histochemistry. The glands were of two types: glands within the thickened ductal wall (intramural) and those outside the wall (extramural ...
