Platelet Lysate–Enriched Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell–Derived Chondrocyte Sheets for Bone Defect Repair via Endochondral Ossification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Human iPSC‐derived hypertrophic chondrocyte sheet promotes bone regeneration. Abstract Bone defects are a major clinical challenge, primarily owing to the limited self‐healing capacity of bones and the high risk of complications associated with conventional treatment strategies.

Oral Transmucosal or Intramuscular Administration of Dexmedetomidine–Methadone Combination in Dogs: Sedative and Physiological Effects

open access: yesAnimals, 2020
The aim of this study was to compare the sedative and physiological effects following either oral transmucosal (OTM) or intramuscular administration of dexmedetomidine–methadone combination in healthy dogs. Thirty dogs were randomly assigned to receive a

Characterization of an Injectable Poly(vinyl alcohol)‐gelatin Hydrogel for Growth Factor Delivery in an Orthopedic Application

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces photo‐crosslinkable tyraminated poly(vinyl alcohol)‐gelatin (PVA‐GT) hydrogels as tunable injectable platforms for tissue engineering and growth factor delivery applications. This schematic illustrates the two developed hydrogel formulations and the experimental workflow used to evaluate their physico‐chemical properties in vitro ...

Post-Exposure Anti-Ricin Treatment Protects Swine against Lethal Systemic and Pulmonary Exposures

open access: yesToxins, 2020
Ricin, a plant-derived toxin originating from the seeds of Ricinus communis (castor bean plant), is one of the most lethal toxins known. To date, there is no approved post-exposure therapy for ricin exposures.

Dynamics of African swine fever virus shedding and excretion in domestic pigs infected by intramuscular inoculation and contact transmission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a highly virulent swine pathogen that has spread across Eastern Europe since 2007 and for which there is no effective vaccine or treatment available.

Potent Liver‐Tropic mRNA Lipid Nanoparticles: ApoE‐Mediated Delivery Through a Low‐Density Lipoprotein Receptor Independent Uptake Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Helper and ionizable lipids play a crucial role in determining ApoE binding and subsequent liver tropism and LDLR‐mediated uptake. Ionizable lipids primarily govern the LDLR‐independent uptake pathway. This complementary interplay between lipid components ultimately governs LNP delivery performance and therapeutic efficacy in the liver.

Vaccination Route as a Determinant of Protective Antibody Responses against Herpes Simplex Virus

open access: yesVaccines, 2020
Herpes simplex viruses (HSV) are significant global health problems associated with mucosal and neurologic disease. Prior experimental vaccines primarily elicited neutralizing antibodies targeting glycoprotein D (gD), but those that advanced to clinical ...

Serotonergic System‐Targeted Nucleic Acid Hydrogel Coordinates Excitability Restoration and Circuit Reconstruction for Spinal Cord Injury Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The study reports a DNA/RNA heteroduplex hydrogel (SeroPTEN‐CG) that undergoes DNase‐mediated hydrogel‐to‐nanogel transition for spinal cord injury therapy by targeting the serotonergic system, combining 5‐hydroxytryptamine (5‐HT)‐mediated excitability restoration to reactivate dormant interneurons with phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN)‐targeted ...

Intramuscular myxomas

open access: yesJournal of British Surgery, 1973
Abstract Seven cases of intramuscular myxoma are presented. Although these lesions appear to be malignant macroscopically they are in fact benign tumours. They are well recognized and described in the pathology literature, but are not so readily recognized by surgeons.
