Augmenter of liver regeneration enhances the success rate of fetal pancreas transplantation in rodents [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Background. Treatment of fetal pancreas (FP) isografts with insulin- like growth factor-I greatly improves the rate of conversion to euglycemia in diabetic rats.

A Nano‐Interception Strategy for Chronic Heart Failure: Prussian Blue Nanoparticles Disrupt Fibroblast‐Immune Communication via CCL2 Sequestration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A nano‐interception strategy disrupts pathogenic fibroblast–macrophage crosstalk in chronic heart failure. Scalable Prussian blue nanoparticles selectively sequester CCL2 via ultrahigh‐affinity binding, preventing CCR2+ macrophage recruitment and breaking a key fibro‐inflammatory circuit. This approach demonstrates robust efficacy in murine and porcine

Comparison between Intramuscular and Intranasal Administration of Sedative Drugs Used for Piglet Castration

open access: yesAnimals
The aim of this study was to test the intranasal administration of different anaesthetics in piglets less than seven days of age undergoing castration for their suitability for providing good-quality sedation and short induction and recovery time with ...

Intramuscular myxomas

open access: yesJournal of British Surgery, 1973
Abstract Seven cases of intramuscular myxoma are presented. Although these lesions appear to be malignant macroscopically they are in fact benign tumours. They are well recognized and described in the pathology literature, but are not so readily recognized by surgeons.

Piezo2 Mediates a Vicious Cycle of “Mechanical Homeostasis Imbalance—Inflammation” in Sensory Nerves and the Cartilage Endplate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In a lumbar spine instability model, dorsal root ganglion cells mediate the perception of relevant mechanical stresses through Piezo2 and subsequently release CGRP. CGRP activates the NF‐κB signaling pathway in cartilage endplate cells through the receptor RAMP1.

Isolated Intramuscular Cysticercosis

open access: yesMalaysian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2016
Dear Editor, The recent report on isolated intramuscular cysticercosis is very interesting (1). In this report, “a case of intramuscular cysticercosis diagnosed by ultrasonography” is presented (1). In fact, the intramuscular cysticercosis is not an uncommon parasitic infestation.

Atrophic Skeletal Muscle‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles Transfer miR‐125a‐5p to Inhibit Bone Formation in Osteoporosis during Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A muscle‐bone endocrine pathway in aging is revealed in which extracellular vesicles released from atrophic skeletal muscle (Aged‐SKM‐EVs) inhibit bone formation. These EVs deliver miR‐125a‐5p to osteoblasts, thereby suppressing the SIRT7‐Sp7 signaling axis and osteogenic differentiation.

Establishing gold standard approaches to rapid tranquillisation: a review and discussion of the evidence on the safety and efficacy of medications currently used [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background: Rapid tranquillisation is used when control of agitation, aggression or excitement is required. Throughout the UK there is no consensus over the choice of drugs to be used as first line treatment.

Cryo‐EM Structure Guided Engineering of Botulinum Neurotoxin A With Advanced Receptor Binding Affinity and Therapeutical Benefits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The butterfly unfolded wing in an open form structure of botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNT/A) at physiological‐state was confirmed at 2.85 Å resolution by cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM). Structure‐guided protein engineering significantly enhanced the receptor‐binding affinity, therapeutic efficacy, and safety of the engineered toxin variants ...

Mitochondrial CircRNA CircMT‐RNR2 Safeguards Antioxidant Defense to Support Fibroblast Functions in Wound Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CircMT‐RNR2 promotes wound healing by enhancing fibroblast proliferation, migration, contraction, and extracellular matrix (ECM) production. It sustains mitochondrial redox balance by stabilizing the antioxidant protein PRDX3, thereby reducing ROS‐induced damage. In diabetic foot ulcers, hypoxia, hyperglycemia, and reduced FGF2 and EGF expression lower
