Effect of Anterior Capsulotomy Shape and Intraocular Lens Design on Lens Decentration

European journal of Implant and Refractive Surgery, 1994
OBJECTIVE: To determine whether the anterior capsulotomy shape (capsulorhexis or envelope) or the IOL design (polyHEMA, one-piece PMMA open and closed loops, three-piece polypropylene and PMMA loops) influence the lens decentration after intercapsular cataract surgery.

A Simple Method for Measuring Intraocular Lens Decentration In Vivo

European journal of Implant and Refractive Surgery, 1993
Abstract OBJECTIVE:To show a simple and cost effective method of measuring IOL decentration in vivo using anterior segment photographs taken with a fundus camera. SETTING: Department of Ophthalmology, The Red Cross Hospital, Murcia, Spain. PATIENTS: 161 eyes were measured.

Decentration of an hamber Intraocular Lens due to aocularation

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1991
To the Editor. —Decentration of a PC IOL as a late complication of extracapsular cataract surgery has been well documented in the literature.1-2The most frequent cause is the placement of one haptic in the capsular bag and the other in the ciliary sulcus. Subsequent contracture of the capsularg may deform the hapticltimately decenter the optic.

Posterior capsular opacification and intraocular lens decentration Part II: Experimental findings on a prototype circular intraocular lens design

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1988
In a prospective randomized study, 25 New Zealand white rabbit eyes were implanted with four intraocular lens (IOL) designs. These included a one-piece modified J-loop IOL, a three-piece modified J-loop IOL, a rigid disc IOL, and an experimental compressible disc (CD) IOL.

Comparison of Intraocular Lens Decentration Parameters After Femtosecond and Manual Capsulotomies

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2011
PURPOSE: To evaluate a laser technique and manual technique to perform capsulorrhexis in cataract eyes. METHODS: Anterior capsulotomy was performed with an intraocular femtosecond laser (LenSx Lasers Inc) in 54 eyes (FS group) and ...

Decentration associated with asymmetric capsular shrinkage and intraocular lens size

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1993
An intraocular lens (IOL) may become displaced even when it has been implanted in the capsular bag. Asymmetric capsular shrinkage is one cause of lens decentration. To determine whether the IOL length influences the degree of decentration, we assessed the decentration of IOLs of different lengths in rabbits.

Effect of anterior capsulotomy on decentration of a two-zone multifocal intraocular lens

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1993
A study was undertaken to determine if can-opener (CO) or continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis (CCC) anterior lens capsulotomy influences decentration of a two-zone multifocal intraocular lens (IOL). Fifty IOLs (25 with polypropylene haptics and 25 with poly[methyl methacrylate] haptics) were implanted following CO, 42 with poly(methyl methacrylate ...

Measurement of postoperative intraocular lens tilting and decentration using Scheimpflug images

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1989
A three-dimensional, in vivo method for determining the position of implanted intraocular lenses (IOLs) using an image-processing technique has been developed. Two images of the anterior segment of the eye with an implanted IOL were photographed with a Scheimpflug camera at slit-lamp angles of 90 degrees and 180 degrees.

Sliding internal knot technique for late in-the-bag intraocular lens decentration

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2011
We describe a technique that uses a sliding (Siepser) internal knot to secure the intraocular lens (IOL) and capsular bag complex to the sclera. The technique is helpful in cases of late dislocation of the IOL-capsular bag complex, which seems to be particularly common in patients with pseudoexfoliation.

A theoretical study of intraocular lens tilt and decentration on perceptual image quality

Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics, 2005
Abstract Maps of perceptual image quality were generated for a range of intraocular (IOL) tilts and decentrations, using a perceptually based metric i.e. the square integral (SQRI) metric. Maps were generated for a well‐corrected eye, and for hyperopic (−0.1 mm) and myopic (+
