Intraoral scanners in orthodontics review

Russian Journal of Stomatology, 2023
Recently, intraoral scanners (IOS) are increasingly used among dentists of orthopedic, as well as orthodontists. The purpose of this review is to provide information, the main characteristics of scanners and help with the choice of an IOS for orthodontists. Can digital impressions be considered as a replacement for traditional impressions?

Intraoral 3D scanner

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Here a new set-up of a 3D-scanning system for CAD/CAM in dental industry is proposed. The system is designed for direct scanning of the dental preparations within the mouth. The measuring process is based on phase correlation technique in combination with fast fringe projection in a stereo arrangement.

Complete-arch accuracy of intraoral scanners

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2018
Intraoral scanners have shown varied results in complete-arch applications. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the complete-arch accuracy of 4 intraoral scanners based on trueness and precision measurements compared with a known reference (trueness) and with each other (precision).Four intraoral scanners were evaluated: CEREC Bluecam ...

Intraoral scanners- digital impression

2019
Abstract: Devices for taking direct optical impressions in dentistry which are based on creating a digital three-dimensional tooth virtual model in a quick and easy way, are intraoral scanners (IOS). The informations that digital models can provide at the beginning of treatment are inviolate and leads to much better diagnoses and even better quality of

Piezoelectric Transducer Based 3D Intraoral Scanner

2012 International Conference on Information Science and Applications, 2012
There are not so many 3D profile tools specially designed for specifically narrow space, for example, to scan the tooth shape of a human jaw. In this paper, a real-time 3D intraoral scanner based on piezoelectric transducer is presented for the measurement of tooth profile in the mouth cavity.

Effect of saliva isolation and intraoral light levels on performance of intraoral scanners

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2020
The use of digital models in orthodontics is becoming increasingly widespread. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and performance of digital intraoral scanning under 4 different intraoral environmental conditions.Four digital models were acquired with TRIOS intraoral scanner (3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark) for 50 subjects.

Precision of Dental Implant Digitization Using Intraoral Scanners

The International Journal of Prosthodontics, 2016
The digitization of scanbodies on dental implants is required to use computer-aided design/computer-assisted manufacture processes for implant prosthetics. Little is known about the accuracy of scanbody digitization with intraoral scanners and dental lab scanners.

[Quantitative study of intraoral scanners' accuracy].

Zhonghua kou qiang yi xue za zhi = Zhonghua kouqiang yixue zazhi = Chinese journal of stomatology, 2021
Objective: To establish a standard method to evaluate the scanning accuracy of intraoral scanner (IOS) and to investigate six IOS's scanning accuracy and the relationship between different scan span. Methods: Five simplified six abutments full arch model were fabricated by high accuracy (5 μm) milling machine with 7075 aluminum alloy.

Accuracy of full-arch scans using intraoral scanners

Clinical Oral Investigations, 2013
This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of intraoral scanners in full-arch scans.A representative model with 14 prepared abutments was digitized using an industrial scanner (reference scanner) as well as four intraoral scanners (iTero, CEREC AC Bluecam, Lava C.O.S., and Zfx IntraScan).
