Local Rift and Intraplate Seismicity Reveal Shallow Crustal Fluid-Related Activity and Sub-Crustal Faulting [PDF]
Seismicity delineating the mid-ocean ridge system in the Panama Basin is mostly concentrated along transform offsets. Most intraplate areas show little-to-no seismic activity.

Intraplate Seismicity of the Pacific Basin, 1913–1988
Pure and Applied Geophysics, 1991We establish here a comprehensive database of intraplate seismicity in the Pacific Basin. Relocation and analysis of 894 earthquakes yield 403 reliable intraplate earthquakes during 1913–1988. These numbers do not include earthquake swarms, which account for another 838 events.

Analysis of Time Dynamical Features in Intraplate Versus Interplate Seismicity: The Case Study of Iquique Area (Chile) [PDF]
The intraplate and interplate seismic catalogues of Iquique (Chile) area were investigated by using seismological (bvalue of the Gutenberg-Richter law), fractal (Allan Factor and detrended fluctuation analysis) and topological (Horizontal Visibility ...

NW Australian Intraplate Seismicity and Stress Regime [PDF]
The interrelations between stress orientation, regional deformation, and seismic activity in the context of intraplate seismicity continue to pose difficult questions. Stress models of the Australian continent are largely based on nonseismic information.

The Van earthquake (M (W) 7.1, 23 October 2011) in E-Anatolia is typical representative of intraplate earthquakes. Its thrust focal character and aftershock seismicity pattern indicate the most prominent type of compound earthquakes due to its ...

Recent Intraplate Seismicity in Estonia, East European Platform
Seismological Research Letters, 2022Abstract Four Estonian earthquakes were studied, 1.2–2.0 in magnitude and taking place in 2016–2018. Their focal parameters were determined, providing an opportunity to place them in the context of the regional stress field and make tentative geological interpretation of their connection to faults in the Precambrian basement, which is ...

Intraplate Seismicity in Alaska
Seismological Research Letters, 1988Abstract A large part of central Alaska and the whole of northeast Alaska are dominated by intraplate tectonics. In this tectonic regime, earthquakes are primarily restricted to the crust (≈40 km); their magnitudes and density decrease northward.

Tensional intraplate seismicity in the Eastcentral Pacific
Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 1987Abstract We identify a region of enhanced intraplate seismicity west of the Mathematicians Ridge in the Eastcentral Pacific. Recent activity includes the December 2, 1984 event (Ms = 6.2) which was accompanied by a swarm of seismic activity, including 45 recorded shocks in the 3 months preceding the earthquake, and 10 aftershocks extending into 1986.

Causes of Intraplate Seismicity in Central Brazil From Travel Time Seismic Tomography
New results of travel time seismic tomography in central Brazil provide evidence that the relatively high seismicity in this region is related to the thinner lithosphere at the limit between the Amazonian and São Francisco paleocontinents. The transition
