Organ Crosstalk During Injury: Mechanisms of Lung–Kidney Interaction in Critical Illness
Crosstalk between the lungs and kidneys may propagate multiorgan injury in critically ill patients. This review examines evidence of crosstalk between the lungs and kidneys after injury, focusing on translational and mechanistic studies. Pathophysiology and animal models of acute kidney injury (AKI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are ...

ABSTRACT Metastasis is the leading cause of death related to breast cancer. Premetastatic niches (PMNs), which are remodelled by the primary tumours in distant organs, are essential for the colonisation of disseminated cancer cells. The vascular niche is among the most pivotal PMNs in breast cancer lung metastasis, and the underlying mechanism remains ...

This study examines MPXV immunity in PLWH, focusing on smallpox vaccine‐induced responses. PLWH with CD4⁺ T‐cell counts <500 cells/mm3 showed reduced VTT‐IgG, MPXV‐IgG, and NAbs, while CD4⁺ T‐cell responses were impaired at counts <350 cells/mm3. CD8⁺ T‐cell responses remained stable.

The Silent Shift: Investigating Selenium Biovolatilization in Natural Environments
Abstract Selenium (Se) is essential for human health. Organisms produce volatile Se through metabolism, which is an essential but hidden component of the Se geochemical cycle. Understanding this natural cycle is vital for sustainable development and ecosystem protection, thereby preserving planetary health and fostering harmonious coexistence between ...

These findings identify matrix stiffness‐driven cellular senescence as a critical mechanism in silicosis progression, providing a rationale for targeting senescent cells as an antifibrotic therapeutic strategy. ABSTRACT Silicosis is an occupational lung disease characterized by diffuse pulmonary fibrosis resulting from inhalation of silica particles ...

Antimicrobial prescribing guidelines for horses in Australia
The growing problem of antimicrobial resistance also affects equine veterinarians with increasing frequency. Antimicrobial stewardship and responsible prescribing are essential for a future in which effective antimicrobials are available, as it is unlikely that new antimicrobials will become available for use in horses.
