Roll with the punches: Fibroblast growth factor 10 alleviates pyroptosis of alveolar epithelial cells in different immune niches

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Our study reveals a marked decrease of serum FGF10 levels in ARDS patients, correlating with P/F ratio, hospitalisation days and mortality rates. We clarify how FGF10 prevents AECs' pyroptosis triggered by different immune cell infiltrations in different ways.

A Case of Tracheal Stenosis Following Intratracheal Intubation.

open access: yesNihon Kikan Shokudoka Gakkai Kaiho, 1992
A 26-year-old male was admitted to our hospital complaining of dyspnea. Laryngoscopic examination showed circumscribed stenosis in the subglottis. He had fallen into respiratory failure after surgical operation in the hospital which had been treated with intubation of a cuffed tube and intermitent, positive pressure ventilation. At an operative findings,

Lycium barbarum Polysaccharide and Chlorogenic Acid Ameliorate LPS‐Induced Acute Lung Injury via the NF‐κB Signaling Mediated Multi‐Targets

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
Lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP) and chlorogenic acid (CA) ameliorate LPS‐induced acute lung injury (ALI) through a multi‐target regulatory mechanism, which involves suppression of the NF‐κB signaling pathway. ABSTRACT Acute lung injury (ALI) is a life‐threatening condition characterized by acute inflammatory damage to the alveolar epithelium and ...

Lung Volume Change Under Apnoeic Oxygenation With Different Flow Rates in Children: A Single‐Centre Prospective Randomized Controlled Non‐Inferiority Trial

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, Volume 36, Issue 1, Page 36-42, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background High‐flow oxygen in children prolongs the apnea time. The exact mechanism remains unclear. Aims This study investigated whether low‐ and high‐flow nasal oxygen are non‐inferior to very high‐flow oxygen in preventing lung volume loss during apnoea in children under general anesthesia. We also examined whether early onset oxygen using

In vivo evaluation of the inhibitory capacity of human plasma on exogenous surfactant function [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Objective: The adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) are characterized by high permeability pulmonary edema which contains plasma-derived proteins inhibiting pulmonary surfactant function.

Successful Treatment of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in an 8‐Day‐Old Standardbred Foal With Intratracheal Oxygen Therapy via Temporary Tracheostomy

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, Volume 36, Issue 1, Page 138-144, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This report describes an 8‐day‐old foal diagnosed with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) successfully managed using a novel approach of intratracheal oxygen delivery. Case Summary An 8‐day‐old Standardbred filly presented for an acute onset of respiratory distress. Given the acute onset, known risk factors, bilateral diffuse

Esophageal misplacement of a single-lumen tube after its exchange for a double-lumen tube despite the use of an airway-exchange catheter

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Anaesthesia, 2013
An airway-exchange catheter (AEC) can increase the safety of exchanges of endotracheal tubes (ETTs); however, the procedure is associated with potential risks.

Long‐term outcomes of dogs with W‐shaped or traditional tracheal collapse treated with a continuous extraluminal tracheal prosthesis: A retrospective study

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, Volume 55, Issue 1, Page 118-130, January 2026.
Abstract Objective To report the clinical characteristics of traditional (TTC) and W‐shaped tracheal collapse (WTC) and the long‐term outcomes of continuous extraluminal tracheal prosthesis (CETP) placement in dogs with grade IV tracheal collapse (TC). Study design Retrospective case series. Animals A total of 69 client‐owned dogs.
