Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy, 2009Endophthalmitis following intravitreal injection is an infrequent but serious clinical problem. Infectious endophthalmitis must be differentiated from noninfectious inflammation. Depending on the series, the risk of endophthalmitis is very low. The use of a standardized injection protocol can reduce the risk of infection.
