Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

Continuous Stiffness Graded Metal–Ceramic Femoral Stems: UMAT‐Based Design and Finite Element Assessment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Functionally graded metal–ceramic femoral stems are engineered through continuous UMAT‐based stiffness tailoring, eliminating discrete material interfaces while enhancing biomechanical compatibility. Low‐index power‐law gradation optimizes load transfer, reduces stress shielding, and controls implant–bone micromotion, highlighting a materials‐design ...

Gradient plasticity used for modeling extrinsic and intrinsic size effects in the torsion of Au microwires

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials, 2016
The gradient plasticity theory proposed by Aifantis and coworkers has been successfully used to model size effect phenomena at the microscale and nanoscale, by introducing into the formulation an internal length scale associated with the phenomenological

Microstructure evolution, lattice rotation retardation and grain orientation fragmentation in commercial purity aluminium deformed by high pressure torsion

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
The behaviour of commercial purity aluminium processed by high pressure torsion is studied for a wide range of strains. The microstructure and texture are used to characterise the HPT deformation.

Protein imperfections: separating intrinsic from extrinsic variation of torsion angles

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D Biological Crystallography, 2004
In this paper, the variation of the values of dihedral angles in proteins is divided into two categories by analyzing distributions in a database of structures determined at a resolution of 1.8 A or better [Lovell et al. (2003), Proteins Struct. Funct. Genet. 50, 437-450].

Three‐Dimensional Anomalous Hall Sensing Enabled By Spin–Orbit Torque Driven Domain Reconfiguration In Chiral Multilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A three‐dimensional magnetic field sensor is realized in chiral W/CoFeB/MgO multilayers, where spin–orbit torques reversibly reconfigure homochiral stripe domains. The symmetry of the torque enables offset‐free in‐plane sensing, while the reproducible domain reconfiguration extends the linear out‐of‐plane range. An anomalous Hall readout delivers large‐

A novel definition of complexity in torsion based theory

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2022
Despite coming across quite effective definitions of complexity in terms of many modified theories of gravity, it still has a question about its existence in f(T) gravity, where the torsion scalar T is accountable for gravitational impacts. The emergence

Development of a Three‐Axis Planar Hall Magnetoresistance Sensor Using a Superparamagnetic Nanoparticle‐Based Flux Guide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A printed superparamagnetic nanoparticle‐based flux guide enables the realization of a hysteresis‐free three‐axis magnetic sensor. This innovative architecture efficiently redirects out‐of‐plane fields to planar sensing elements, facilitating simultaneous vector detection without complex reset protocols.
