Intrusive images and memories in major depression
Behaviour Research and Therapy, 2007Individuals with current major depression were interviewed to investigate the prevalence of distressing intrusive mental imagery among depressed patients and study the phenomenology of these intrusions. Of the 39 currently depressed patients, 17 experienced some form of repetitive intrusive imagery (i.e., either an intrusive memory or image), with ...

Activating attachment representations during memory retrieval modulates intrusive traumatic memories
Consciousness and Cognition, 2017Although priming mental representations of attachment security reduces arousal, research has not examined the effect of attachment on the retrieval of emotionally arousing memories. This study investigated the effect of priming attachment security on the retrieval of emotional memories.

Intrusion errors in working memory tasks
Learning and Individual Differences, 2000Abstract The purpose of the present research was to investigate whether inefficient suppression mechanisms cause overload and interference in working memory and, consequently, influence reading comprehension. Two groups of children, matched for intelligence but differing in inferential comprehension ability, were compared on measures of short-term ...

Effects of suppressing negative memories on intrusions and autobiographical memory specificity
Applied Cognitive Psychology, 2010AbstractThis study examines whether avoidance of negative memories results in intrusions as well as reduced memory specificity. Healthy participants suppressed memories of either a negative or a neutral autobiographical event. Individuals who suppressed negative memories tended to demonstrate smaller increases in negative mood than those who did not ...

Working memory capacity and suppression of intrusive thoughts
Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry, 2005We sought to show that individual differences in working memory capacity are related to the ability to intentionally suppress personally relevant intrusive thoughts, and that this effect cannot be explained by differences in negative mood. Sixty participants identified their most frequent intrusive thought and then completed a thought suppression task.

Intrusive memories in depression and posttraumatic stress disorder
Behaviour Research and Therapy, 1999This study compared the stressors and consequent intrusive memories reported by matched samples of patients with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and major depression. Although intrusive memories were slightly more common among PTSD patients, both quantitative and qualitative measures revealed few differences between the groups.

Intrusive memories of childhood abuse during depressive episodes
Behaviour Research and Therapy, 1994A sample of adult women with major depression who reported childhood sexual or physical abuse completed a measure of the extent to which they were experiencing intrusive memories of the abuse and their efforts to avoid these memories. The majority of women in the sample reported high levels of disturbing intrusive memories, and high levels of avoidance.

Brief exercise enhances intrusive memories of traumatic stimuli
Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, 2017Brief physical exercise enhances memories for neutral events, and recently has been shown to modulate fear learning in animals. To date there is no evidence pertaining to the impact of exercise on emotional memories in humans. Accordingly, this study investigated the role of brief exercise in the development of emotional intrusive memories.

Non-intrusive Scalable Memory Access Tracer
2014Memory access tracing is one of the widely used methods to evaluate, analyze, and optimize hardware and software designs. We are developing a non-intrusive, scalable, full-address-range memory tracer. The tracer hardware board is compliant with the JEDEC DDR3 DIMM form factor, and fits in a DIMM slot.
