Direct digital intratracheal intubation for neonatal resuscitation

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1968
Summary The technique of digital introduction of endotracheal tubes for neonatal resuscitation is easy to learn, requires simple and dependable equipment, and has few dangers and limitations. Proficiency in the method allows the unaided physician quickly and easily to establish and use a patent airway for neonatal ...

Continuous Calculation of Intratracheal Pressure in Tracheally Intubated Patients

Anesthesiology, 1993
Intratracheal pressure (Ptrach) should be the basis for analysis of lung mechanics. If measured at all, Ptrach is usually assessed by introducing a catheter into the trachea via the lumen of the endotracheal tube (ETT). The authors propose a computer-assisted method for calculating Ptrach on a point-by-point basis by subtracting the flow-dependent ...

Intratracheal stent intubation under extracorporeal lung assist

Surgery Today, 1995
An artificial stent was intubated using extracorporeal lung assist (ECLA) in two patients with inoperable tracheal stenosis. In a patient with an endotracheal tumor, an airway obstruction due to a partial stent collapse was overcome by an immediate ECLA perfusion.

Intubation Bougie Dissection of Tracheal Mucosa and Intratracheal Airway Obstruction

Anesthesia & Analgesia, 2008
Intubation bougies are commonly used to aid in intubation when an optimal view of the larynx is not obtained. We describe a case of tracheal perforation using a disposable intubation bougie resulting in a complete intratracheal airway obstruction relieved by cricothyrotomy.

Intratracheal aerosolized etidocaine to attenuate cardiovascular and cough responses to laryngoscopy and intubation

Annals of Emergency Medicine, 1985
Forty-five ASA I or II patients scheduled for elective surgery were randomized into one of three groups. Patients in Group 1 (n = 15) received no intratracheal aerosol at laryngoscopy. Patients in Group 2 (n = 15) and Group 3(n = 15) received 50 mg and 75 mg, respectively, of intratracheal aerosolized etidocaine at laryngoscopy.

Oral endotracheal intubation of rats for intratracheal instillation and aerosol drug delivery

Laboratory Animals, 2001
As reported in the literature, oral endotracheal intubation of rats is considered to be very difficult. Specialised equipment and complicated techniques have been described to perform this procedure. In our experiment we adopted a simple method, which allowed—without any complicated equipment-the insertion of a relatively wide tube into the trachea of

Ventilator Y-Piece Pressure Compared with Intratracheal Airway Pressure in Healthy Intubated Children

Journal of Clinical Monitoring and Computing, 2006
Compare airway pressure measurements at the ventilator Y-piece of the breathing circuit (P( Y )) to intratracheal pressure measured at the distal end (P( T )) of the endotracheal tube (ETT) during mechanical ventilation and spontaneous breathing of intubated children.Thirty children (age range 29 days to 5 years) receiving general anesthesia were ...

Retention and Excretion of 3H in Rats Following the Intratracheal Intubation of Tritiated Pump Oil

Health Physics, 2013
Saturated hydrocarbon mineral oils in vacuum pumps used in ³H handling facilities often contain significant amounts of ³H (as much as several hundred GBq L⁻¹), and during maintenance the air around an open pump may contain MBq L of volatile and aerosol species.
