Surfactant Nebulization to Prevent Intubation in Preterm Infants: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

open access: yes, 2021
CONTEXT Surfactant nebulization (SN) may offer a safe alternative for surfactant administration in respiratory distress syndrome of preterm infants. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy of SN for the prevention of early intubation.

Variation in Stabilization and Resuscitation Practices at Birth of Preterm Infants Among 12 National or Regional Neonatal Networks

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Neonatal resuscitation follows national or regional guidelines, but uptake varies in clinical practice. This study aimed to examine variations in reported delivery room practices for infants < 29 weeks' gestation across neonatal units in 12 networks of the International Network for Evaluating Outcomes in Neonates.

Medical Management With Mechanical Ventilation of a Dog With Severe Barium Sulfate Aspiration

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To describe the medical management with mechanical ventilation of a dog with severe barium sulfate aspiration and concurrent canine acute eosinophilic dermatitis with edema. Case summary A 26‐month‐old castrated male Golden Retriever was presented in respiratory distress after the accidental administration of approximately 300 mL of ...

Intratracheal Lidocaine Reduces Incidence of Cough During Extubation and Sore Throat After Tonsillectomy Surgery: A Randomized, Single-blind Clinical Trial

open access: yesBali Journal of Anesthesiology, 2022
Background: The incidence of cough during extubation occurs in 40–76% of patients. One effort to reduce this incidence is the use of lidocaine. This study aims to further investigate the benefits of intratracheal lidocaine in reducing the incidence of ...

Successful Management of Total Intravenous Anesthesia Using Remimazolam, Dexmedetomidine, and Remifentanil for Airway Stenting Under Rigid Bronchoscopy: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Using intravenous general anesthesia with remimazolam and remifentanil, we successfully performed airway stent placement for cancer‐related airway stenosis without causing hypoxia. ABSTRACT During airway stenting for airway stenosis under rigid bronchoscopy, preservation of spontaneous breathing is desirable.

Design considerations for intratracheal delivery devices to achieve proof-of-concept dry powder biopharmaceutical delivery in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Purpose: Intratracheal delivery and consistent dosing of dry powder vaccines is especially challenging in mice. To address this issue, device design of positive pressure dosators and actuation parameters were assessed for their impacts on powder ...

Comparative efficacy and safety of the cuff inflation technique and the conventional Magill forceps method for nasotracheal intubation under direct laryngoscopy

open access: yesAsian Journal of Medical Sciences
Background: Nasotracheal intubation (NTI) is required in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The Magill forceps method guides the endotracheal tube but risks trauma and cuff damage. The cuff inflation technique redirects the tube by inflating the cuff in the

Effects of Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Derived Exosomes on Lung Inflammation in a Murine Aspiration Model

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 7, Page 3097-3102, July 2026.
This study assessed the effect of intravenous MSC‐derived exosomes on inflammatory lung injury in a rat model of LPS aspiration. Compared with LPS alone, MSC exosome treatment reduced histologic lung injury overall (significant group effect p = 0.02; linear trend p = 0.006) and significantly lowered Tnf gene expression on qRT‐PCR (p < 0.05).

Asymptomatic Vallecular Cyst: Case Report

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Anesthesiology, 2013
A 56-year-old man presented himself for an intracranial glioblastoma multiforme excision. After being routinely monitored, he was preoxygenated. We induced anesthesia and paralysis with 200 mg propofol, 50 μg fentanyl and 9 mg vecuronium.

Engineering Resatorvid‐Loaded Sub‐Microgels of Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate/Hyaluronic Acid to Treat Acute Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 21, 5 June 2026.
This study presents HAEP@Res sub‐microgels as a lung‐targeted delivery system integrating antioxidant activity with anti‐inflammatory therapy. The sub‐microgels demonstrate excellent biocompatibility, efficiently scavenge intracellular ROS, and downregulate pro‐inflammatory cytokines and genes in a Bleo‐induced ALI mouse model. These findings highlight
