Strong base catalyzed intumescent flame retardants

Journal of Materials Science Letters, 2000
Intumescent flame retardants form a foamed-char barrier layer when exposed to a flame. Conventional systems are based on the acid catalysed dehydration of carbonifics such as dipentaerythritol. Metal oxides also have utility as catalytic flame retardants.

Flame retardancy and thermal degradation of intumescent flame retardant polypropylene material

Polymers for Advanced Technologies, 2011
AbstractThe flame retardancy and thermal degradation properties of polypropylene (PP) containing intumescent flame retardant additives, i.e. melamine pyrophosphate (MPyP) and charring‐foaming agent (CFA) were characterized by limiting oxygen index (LOI), UL 94, cone calorimeter, microscale combustion calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA ...

Flame retardant property of novel intumescent flame retardant rigid polyurethane foams

Polymer Engineering & Science, 2013
The novel intumescent flame retardant rigid polyurethane foams ((PEPS‐RPUF) were prepared based on a P‐N containing intumescent flame retardant, poly ethanediamine spirocyclic pentaerythritol bisphosphonate (PEPS). The flammability, thermal, and mechanical properties of PEPS‐RPUF were discussed.

Thermal degradation and flame retardancy of epoxy resins containing intumescent flame retardant

Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2009
Abstract  Pentaerythritol diphosphonate melamine-urea-formaldehyde resin salt, a novel cheap macromolecular intumescent flame retardants (IFR), was synthesized, and its structure was a caged bicyclic macromolecule containing phosphorus characterized by IR.

A novel intumescent flame‐retardant system for flame‐retarded LLDPE/EVA composites

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2009
AbstractA new intumescent flame retardant (IFR) system consisting of ammonium polyphosphate (APP) and charing‐foaming agent (CFA) and a little organic montmorillonite (OMMT) was used in low‐density polyethylene (LLDPE)/ethylene‐vinyl acetate (EVA) composite.
