Adaptation pathways identify effective strategies for mitigating damage on a developed barrier island as sea levels rise

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution
Adaptation pathways are responsive planning tools intended to help decision-makers incorporate uncertainty of a future scenario while optimizing the use of their resources.

Current Collector Engineering for New Efficient Bioresorbable Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is proposed with Mo or Mg thin‐film current collectors for temporary implants. Mo‐based batteries exhibit superior electrochemical performance and stable cycling compared with Mg counterparts. XPS was used to investigate the Mo/Mg surface oxidation.

Inundation

open access: yes
My work is about mass media and popular culture. Media is represented through appropriated imagery, print, and collage of printed material. The central figures are characters from popular culture or social media. My main fields of study are printmaking and design, and both are central to my work.

Diastereomeric Monomers Enable Anion‐Exchange Membranes With Controlled Local Polymer Backbone Flexibility and High Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stereochemistry enables control of ion‐exchange membrane properties via local backbone flexibility without altering the polymer composition. Syn‐enriched membranes show higher water uptake and improved water‐electrolysis performance, whereas anti‐enriched membranes exhibit higher hydration efficiency and improved mechanical properties.

A Global Methane Observation System to Reduce Uncertainty for Anthropogenic and Natural Sources and Sinks for Detecting and Attributing Climate Feedbacks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conceptual illustration of a Global Ecosystem Methane Observing System (GEM‐OS) integrating satellites, aircraft, atmospheric networks, and ecosystem measurements to quantify methane emissions from anthropogenic and natural sources. The multi‐scale observing framework improves source attribution, reduces uncertainty in regional methane budgets, and ...

The impact of land subsiding on pluvial flooding in a mega-city: a century of evidence from Shanghai

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk
The long-term impact of land subsidence on urban pluvial flooding remains poorly understood, particularly regarding its cumulative effects over century scales.

Revolutionising Agricultural Sustainability: New ‘Furrow Tillage’ can Mitigate Short‐Term Soil‐to‐Atmosphere CO2 Flux and Promote Soil‐Plant‐Microbe Health

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Furrow tillage resolves the conventional‐vs.‐no‐tillage trade‐off by simultaneously cutting CO2 efflux to 2.0–3.0 g C m−2 d−1 and unlocking high nutrient availability for the rice rhizosphere. This scalable agronomic solution strengthens soil health, enhances plant physiology, reshapes microbial metabolism, and shifts paddy systems toward a net ...

Macadamia integrifolia Leaf Photosynthesis and Carbohydrate Status Following Whole-Plant Flooding

open access: yesPlants
Extreme flooding has emerged as a major climate risk for low-lying Australian macadamia (Macadamia spp.) orchards, yet the physiological mechanisms underlying tree decline remain poorly understood.

Probing Electrocatalyst Design for Product Selectivity in CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Selective CO2 electroreduction is controlled by catalyst structure, dynamic surface reconstruction, adsorbate interactions, and reaction microenvironment. This review summarizes Cu‐ and non‐Cu‐based catalysts, single‐atom and molecular systems, degradation pathways, and operando/computational strategies for steering CO2RR toward hydrocarbons ...

Modelling Coastal Flooding Induced by Wave Overtopping Using SCHISM Coupled with EurOtop

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Coastal cities protected by artificial structures are vulnerable to wave overtopping during typhoons, where flooding can occur even when the still water level stays below the structure crest.
