E-strings, F 4, and D 4 triality
We study the E-string theory on ℝ4 × T 2 with Wilson lines. We consider two examples where interesting automorphisms arise. In the first example, the spectrum is invariant under the F 4 Weyl group acting on the Wilson line parameters.

Affine-invariant curve matching [PDF]
In this paper, we propose, an affine-invariant-method for describing and matching curves. This is important since affine transformations are often used to model perspective distortions. More specifically, we propose a new definition of the shape of a curve that characterizes a curve independently of the effects introduced by affine distortions.

Cascade of Invariant Curve Doubling Bifurcations and Quasi-Periodic Hénon Attractor in the Discrete Lorenz-84 Model [PDF]
Background and Objectives: Chaotic behavior is one of the fundamental properties of nonlinear dynamical systems, including maps. Chaos can be most easily and reliably diagnosed using the largest Lyapunov exponent, which will be positive for the chaotic ...

Size invariance in curve tracing [PDF]
Subjects decided whether two dots were on the same curve or on different curves in patterns consisting of two curves and two dots in displays that had an exposure duration of 200 msec or that remained in view until the subjects' response. The overall size of the patterns was varied by a factor of two. Furthermore, across experiments, we manipulated the

On a class of invariant algebraic curves for Kukles systems
In this paper we give a new upper bound for the degree of a class of transversal to infinity invariant algebraic curves for polynomial Kukles systems of arbitrary degree.

Explicit limit cycles of a class of Kolmogorov system
A class of Kolmogorov differential system is introduced. It is shown that under suitable assumptions on degrees and parameters, algebraic limit cycles can occur. we propose an easy algorithm to test the existence of limit cycles and we give them explicit

Linearizability conditions for 1:-5 Lotka-Volterra two-dimensional complex quartic systems
In this paper we investigate the linearizability problem for the planar Lotka-Volterra complex quartic systems which are 1:-5 linear systems perturbed by homogeneous polynomials of degree 4, that is to say, we consider systems of the form ẋ = x(1 ...

ON THE HASSE INVARIANTS OF ELLIPTIC CURVES
Let \(p\) be a prime, and \(\mathbb{F}_p\) be the field of order \(p\). Binomial coefficients have an \(\mathbb{F}_p\)-analogue defined in terms of Jacobi sums. This paper establishes congruences modulo powers of \(p\) between these finite field binomial coefficients and ordinary ones.
