An Informal Summary of a New Formalism for Classifying Spin-Orbit Systems Using Tools Distilled from the Theory of Bundles

open access: yes, 2015
We give an informal summary of ongoing work which uses tools distilled from the theory of fibre bundles to classify and connect invariant fields associated with spin motion in storage rings. We mention four major theorems.

Investigation of the Uniformity of Gel Shrinkage by Imaging Tracer Particles Using X‐Ray Microtomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

Apparent unitarity violation in high mass region of MbW from a “hidden” top partner at high energy colliders

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2016
Perturbative unitarity conditions have been playing an important role in estimating the energy scale of new physics, including the Higgs mass as the most important example.

Search for periodic signals in the dielectron and diphoton invariant mass spectra using 139 fb −1 of pp collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
A search for physics beyond the Standard Model inducing periodic signals in the dielectron and diphoton invariant mass spectra is presented using 139 fb −1 of s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV pp collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. Novel

Translationally Invariant Non-Fermi-Liquid Metals with Critical Fermi Surfaces: Solvable Models [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2018
Understanding the properties of metals beyond the Fermi liquid paradigm is one of the central challenges of condensed matter physics. New exactly solvable microscopic models of non-Fermi liquid metals offer new insights into many properties of these ...

Symmetry as a source of hidden coherent structures in quantum physics: general outlook and examples

open access: yes, 1998
A general algebraic approach, incorporating both invariance groups and dynamic symmetry algebras, is developed to reveal hidden coherent structures (closed complexes and configurations) in quantum many-body physics models due to symmetries of their ...

Modular invariant models of lepton masses at levels 4 and 5 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We explore alternative descriptions of the charged lepton sector in modular invariant models of lepton masses and mixing angles. In addition to the modulus, the symmetry breaking sector of our models includes ordinary flavons.

Precise Deviations for Disk Counting Statistics of Invariant Determinantal Processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We consider two-dimensional determinantal processes which are rotation-invariant and study the fluctuations of the number of points in disks. Based on the theory of mod-phi convergence, we obtain Berry-Esseen as well as precise moderate to large ...

Hadronic uncertainties in B → K ∗ μ + μ −: a state-of-the-art analysis

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
In the absence of direct evidence for New Physics at present LHC energies, the focus is set on the anomalies and discrepancies recently observed in rare b → sℓℓ transitions which can be interpreted as indirect hints.

An Arena for Model Building in the Cohen-Glashow Very Special Relativity

open access: yes, 2008
The Cohen-Glashow Very Special Relativity (VSR) algebra [arXiv:hep-ph/0601236] is defined as the part of the Lorentz algebra which upon addition of CP or T invariance enhances to the full Lorentz group, plus the space-time translations.
