Transforming Growth Factors in the Regulation of Malignant Cell Growth and Invasion
Cancer Investigation, 1988AbstractINTRODUCTION The interactions between cells and their extracellular matrices are controlled by various intracellular and exogenous signals. The control of these interactions by polypeptide growth factors appears to involve different levels of regulation.

Inhibitory effects of CAI in glioblastoma growth and invasion
Journal of Neuro-Oncology, 1997While distant metastases are rare in patients with primary brain malignancies, local growth and invasion are common and life-threatening. Regional infiltration is responsible for the failure of local therapies, resulting in tumor recurrence, progression, and death. The process of invasion requires cellular adhesion, local proteolysis and migration. CAI,

Invasive thymoma with intracaval growth into the right atrium
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1992We report an unusual case of invasive thymoma with intracaval growth into the right atrium. Computed tomography and venacavography demonstrated this manner of extension of thymoma. The tumor was completely removed by means of cardiopulmonary bypass after four courses of chemotherapy.

Roughness and growth in a continuous fluid invasion model
Physical Review E, 2004We have studied interface characteristics in a continuous fluid invasion model, first introduced by Phys. Rev. Lett. 60, 2042 (1988)]. In this model, the interface grows as a response to an applied quasistatic pressure, which induces various types of instabilities. We suggest a variant of the model, which differs from the original model by the order of

ITGO: Invasive tumor growth optimization algorithm
Applied Soft Computing, 2015Abstract This paper proposes a new optimization algorithm named ITGO (Invasive Tumor Growth Optimization) algorithm based on the principle of invasive tumor growth. The study of tumor growth mechanism shows that each cell of tumor strives for the nutrient in their microenvironment to grow and proliferate.

Role of microenvironment in trophoblastic tissue growth and invasion
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1970Ten-day-old trophoblastic nodules resulting from grafting of fertilized mouse ova beneath the kidney capsule were retained in diffusion chambers for an additional period of up to 18 days. Under these conditions, the life-span of trophoblastic cells was prolonged to 22 days as compared to the usual 15 to 18 days in mouse placenta in situ.

Dedifferentiation and invasive growth of an eosinophil pituitary adenoma
Acta Neurochirurgica, 1978This report concerns the course of an eosinophil pituitary adenoma in an acromegalic female (16 years of age when first symptoms appeared) over a period of ten years. The case was complicated by craniocerebral trauma and CSF rhinorrhoea. After several operations, dedifferentiation, and invasive growth into the orbit and the petrous bone were observed ...

Hidroacanthoma simplex with invasive growth.
Cutis, 1983Hidroacanthoma simplex is a benign tumor of the skin, macroscopically resembling seborrheic keratosis or Bowen's disease, and histologically revealing intraepidermal focal growth of epithelial cells. A case of hidroacanthoma simplex with a malignant portion is presented in this report.

Hepatocyte growth factor–stimulated invasiveness of monocytes
Blood, 2000Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is a pluripotent cytokine with mitogenic, motogenic, and morphogenic activity for mainly epithelial and endothelial target cells. We previously demonstrated that the specific HGF receptor, MET, is induced in stimulated peripheral blood monocytes.

Biomechanics of Invasive Hyphal Growth
2001Filamentous fungi penetrate diverse solid substrates, including plant and animal tissues, by a process called invasive hyphal growth. Extending hyphae overcome the resistance of their food sources by the secretion of lytic enzymes and the exertion of mechanical force.
