Bacon et la méthode : la libération de l’invention

open access: yesRevue LISA, 2014
In this article, I examine how Bacon is able to justify his promise that the new way he proposes to follow in science is fruitful. I show that such a promise makes sense only if Bacon does not claim that he totally rejects past philosophy.

Understanding the Doctrine of Patentable Subject Matter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The doctrine of patentable subject matter precludes basic inventions such as abstract ideas and laws of nature from patent protection. However, current economic thinking of the patent systemstresses the necessity of rewarding pioneering inventors in ...

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Education and invention. [PDF]

open access: yes
Modern growth theory puts invention on the center stage. Inventions are created by individuals, raising the question: can we increase number of inventors? To answer this question, we study the causal effect of M.Sc.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

A subset of MMR‐proficient colon cancers responds to neoadjuvant immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tan et al. reveal that a distinct subset of early‐stage pMMR colon cancers can respond to neoadjuvant immunotherapy. In the NICHE‐2 trial, responders (26%) were characterized by chromosomal instability, TP53 mutations, and proliferative cell‐cycle programs, whereas nonresponders showed metabolic and stromal reprogramming with TGF‐β‐driven ...
