Functional parameters of spermatozoa obtained by a new selection device

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study compares density gradient centrifugation and the LensHooke CA0™ device for sperm separation. DGC requires multiple steps, specialized equipment, and technical expertise. In contrast, the CA0 device offers key practical and methodological advantages, resulting in a faster, simpler, and more affordable sperm selection method.

Characterization of WAC interactions with R2TP and TTT chaperone complexes linking glucose and glutamine availability to mTORC1 activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TTT and R2TP chaperone complexes are required for the assembly and activation of mTORC1. WAC directly interacts with components of TTT, R2TP, and mTORC1, and these interactions are affected by the availability of glucose and glutamine, correlating with changes in mTORC1 activity.

Thermokarst and precipitation drive changes in the area of lakes and ponds in the National Parks of northwestern Alaska, 1984–2018

open access: yesArctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research, 2019
Lakes and ponds are important ecosystem components in arctic lowlands, and they are prone to rapid changes in surface area by thermokarst expansion and by sudden lake drainage. The 30 m resolution Landsat record (1984–2018) was used to derive a record of

Nitric oxide‐forming nitrite reductases in the anaerobic ammonium oxidizer Kuenenia stuttgartiensis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Anammox bacteria remove fixed nitrogen from their environment via anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) with nitrite as electron acceptor and dinitrogen gas as product. The first anammox step is the conversion of nitrite to nitric oxide by nitrite reductase.
