Stochastic Inventory Routing: Route Design with Stockouts and Route Failures
Transportation Science, 1992The stochastic inventory routing problem involves the distribution of a commodity such as heating oil over a long period of time to a large set of customers. The customers maintain a local inventory of the commodity which they consume at a daily rate.

Inventory Routing Problem under Uncertainty
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2021We study an uncertain inventory routing problem with a finite horizon. The supplier acts as a central planner who determines replenishment quantities and also the times and routes for delivery to all retailers. We allow ambiguity in the probability distribution of each retailer's uncertain demand.

Inventory Routing Problem with Route Duration Limits and Stochastic Inventory Capacity Constraints
Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2013This paper studies the inventory management and routing problem in a two-level supply chain in which a single plant serves a set of warehouses, which in turn serve a set of customers with stochastic demands. A nonlinear integer program based on set partitioning and probabilistic chance constraint is proposed. The program accounts for the probabilities

The Fixed-Partition Policy Inventory Routing Problem
Transportation Science, 2021In this paper, we formally introduce a variant of the inventory routing problem (IRP) that we call the fixed-partition policy IRP (FPP-IRP). In contrast to the classical IRP in which delivery routes are arbitrary, the FPP-IRP partitions customers into mutually exclusive clusters that are fixed throughout the optimization horizon, and distribution is ...

RFID-enabled inventory routing problems
International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, 2007In this paper, we provide a methodology for dynamic control of Radio Frequency Identification- (RFID-) enabled Inventory Routing Problems (IRP), where a set of locations is served by a single distribution centre using a Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) approach.

1998
The role of logistics management is changing. Many companies are realizing that value for a customer can, in part, be created through logistics management (Langley and Holcomb, 1996). Customer value can be created through product availability, timeliness and consistency of delivery, ease of placing orders, and other elements of logistics service ...

Performance Measurement for Inventory Routing
Transportation Science, 2007We develop technology to measure the effectiveness of distribution strategies for inventory routing. Popular, practical performance measures, such as volume delivered per mile, are effective in measuring relative performance but inadequate in measuring absolute performance.

Thirty Years of Inventory Routing
Transportation Science, 2014The inventory-routing problem (IRP) dates back 30 years. It can be described as the combination of vehicle-routing and inventory management problems, in which a supplier has to deliver products to a number of geographically dispersed customers, subject to side constraints.
