Constraining inverse stefan design problems

ZAMP Zeitschrift fr angewandte Mathematik und Physik, 1996
A new formulation possessing stable numerical characteristics is presented for inverse Stefan design processes. In such processes, the goal is to design transient boundary conditions which produce the desired interfacial surface motion. This subclass of mildly ill-posed mathematical problems is amenable to the proposed solution methodology.

Inverse-designed silicon nitride reflectors

Optics Letters
Reflectors play a pivotal role in silicon photonics since they are used in a wide range of applications, including attenuators, filters, and lasers. This Letter presents six silicon nitride reflectors implemented using the inverse design technique. They vary in footprint, ranging from 4 µm × 3 µm to 4 µm × 8 µm.

Inverse-designed metastructures that solve equations

Science, 2019
Solving equations with waves Signal processing of light waves can be used to represent certain mathematical functions and to perform computational tasks on signals or images in an analog fashion. Such processing typically requires complex systems of bulk optical elements such as lenses, filters, and mirrors. Mohammadi Estakhri

Inverse Scattering Pulse Design

2012
The inverse scattering solution of the selective RF pulse design problem for two-level quantum systems without relaxation is described. This provides a conceptual framework and effective computational method for the exact design of selective RF pulses in the absence of relaxation.

Design Principles for Vector Inversion Generators

2007 IEEE 34th International Conference on Plasma Science (ICOPS), 2007
Vector Inversion Generators (VIG), were invented in the 60’s by Fitch and Howell (1). They consist of two parallel plate transmission lines, wound on a common mandrel and sharing a common conductor. VIG’s are a compact electrostatic energy storage device that can convert the stored energy into a traveling RF wave in one component-one step process.

Compact inverse-designed tilted waveguide crossing

Optics Letters
Waveguide crossings are key components for increasing integration density and routing flexibility. We propose a novel, to the best of our knowledge, compact, tilted silicon waveguide crossing designed using inverse design methods, specifically optimized to minimize both insertion loss and crosstalk.
