Soot formation in inverse diffusion flames of diluted ethene
Fuel, 2005Experimental measurements of flame structure and soot characteristics were performed for ethene inverse diffusion flames (IDFs). IDFs are considered as an ideal flow field for studying incipient soot because the soot particles do not experience the oxidation process. In this study, an laser-induced fluorescence image clarified the reaction zone of IDFs

The existence of young soot in the exhaust of inverse diffusion flames
Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2002Knowledge of the chemical and physical structure of early soot is useful in the development of sootparticle inception models. This paper examines the hypothesis that soot exiting an inverse diffusion flame is similar in chemical and morphological structure to (1) soot precursor particles and (2) soot that exits underventilated flames.

Soot formation and oxidation in normal and inverse diffusion flames
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part A: Journal of Power and Energy, 2007A numerical study has been carried out to address the sooting characteristics of normal and inverse diffusion flames. The simulation was performed on the basis of single-step kinetics with a laminar flow assumption and non-unity Lewis number. Five different coaxial normal and inverse flame combinations with different momentum ratios have been ...

Abstract The flame appearance and emission characteristics of a LPG inverse diffusion flame (IDF) are studied experimentally in a coaxial burner. Flame length, CO and NOx emissions are examined at different equivalence ratio and swirler vane angle. The flame length of non-swirling IDFs steadily increases with increase in the fuel jet velocity.
