Strategies for Loading and Releasing Peptide Therapeutics in Biodegradable Carriers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A biodegradable carrier‐based peptide delivery system is a powerful treatment platform for diverse diseases, owing to its superior therapeutic efficacy and low toxicity. This review examines the conventional peptide‐loaded carrier fabrication process and its current limitations.

Spatial dependence and spillover effects in crop diversification practices: farm household level evidence from Ghana

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems
Diversification has been practiced by several economies globally due to its potential to drive structural economic transformation as well as its prospects in reducing the risks associated with crop failure under monocrop production regimes.

BACH, a Bayesian Optimization Protocol for Accurate Coarse‐Grained Parameterization of Organic Liquids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully automated Bayesian optimization (BO) protocol for the parameterization of nonbonded interactions in coarse‐grain CG force fields (BACH). Using experimental thermophysical data, we apply the protocol to a broad range of liquids, spanning linear, branched, and unsaturated hydrocarbons, esters, triglycerides, and water.

A Modified Inverse Distance Weighting Method for Interpolation in Open Public Places Based on Wi-Fi Probe Data

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2019
Urban open places with a public service function (e.g., urban parks) are likely to be populated in peak hours and during public events. To mitigate the risk of overcrowding and even events of stampedes, it is of considerable significance to realize a ...

Enhanced Li‐Ion Battery Performance with Hybrid MXene/GnR Electrodes: Heterojunctions and Engineered Architectures Supported by DFT Mechanistic Studies for Improved Rate Performance, Stability & Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) remain central to energy storage but suffer from slow ion transport and degradation. Here, we present a binder‐free Ti3C2Tx MXene/GnR hybrid electrode with a porous 3D architecture formed via freeze casting. The structure enhances conductivity, ion transport, and stability, delivering 401 mAh/g, ∼97% efficiency, and 92 ...

Helium line detections from ELDWIM at 1.4 GHz

open access: yes, 2011
Helium line observations towards 11 Galactic positions using Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope(WSRT) have been reported. These observations were made towards nearby positions where already hydrogen lines were detected at sufficiently high intensity ...

POD basis interpolation via Inverse Distance Weighting on Grassmann manifolds

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems. Series A, 2019
An adaptation of the Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) method to the Grassmann manifold is carried out for interpolation of parametric POD bases. Our approach does not depend on the choice of a reference point on the Grassmann manifold to perform the ...

Algorithmic Design of Disordered Networks With Arbitrary Coordination: Application to Biophotonics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Predictive Design of Disordered Networks: Disordered network‐like morphologies are abundant in nature, from cytoskeletal networks to bone structures and chalcogenide glasses. These structures are naturally hard to characterize. A new algorithmic tool extends the established Wooten–Weaire–Winer (WWW) algorithm to valencies above 4.

Spatial distribution of microplastics in Persian Gulf marine environments

open access: yesScientific Reports
Microplastics (MPs) are recognized as a significant environmental threat within marine ecosystems. This study examines the spatial distribution of microplastics in seawater, sediments, and fish from the Persian Gulf.
