Nonlinear transformation of probabilities by large language models

open access: yesComputers in Human Behavior: Artificial Humans
Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT and Claude demonstrate impressive abilities to generate meaningful text and mimic human-like responses. While they undoubtedly can boost human performance, there is also the risk that uninstructed users rely ...

Specification tests of asset pricing models using excess returns [PDF]

open access: yes
We discuss the impact of different formulations of asset pricing models on the outcome of specification tests that are performed using excess returns. It is generally believed that when only excess returns are used for testing asset pricing models, the ...

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...

Unravelling the Secret of Sulfur Confinement and High Sulfur Utilization in Hybrid Sulfur‐Carbons

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal condensation of inverse vulcanized sulfur‐carbon hybrids enables a bottom‐up sulfur confinement strategy, in which a protective carbon phase is progressively constructed around sulfur species. The resulting carbon nanodomains covalently tether sulfur chains and stabilize radical intermediates. This integrated architecture effectively suppresses

Application of geostatistical methods for reconstruction of lithological and mineralogical structure of uranium deposit by interpolating well data

open access: yesВестник КазНУ. Серия математика, механика, информатика, 2017
During the development of uranium deposits that use in-situ leaching extraction method, mineralogical and lithological structure of sub terrain media remains unknown and is limited to the data along the wells. In order to optimize the development process,

Multidimensional Fuzzy Transforms with Inverse Distance Weighted Interpolation for Data Regression

open access: yesElectronics
The main limitation of the Multidimensional Fuzzy Transform algorithm applied in regression analysis is that it cannot be used if the data are not dense enough concerning the fuzzy partitions; in these cases, less refined fuzzy partitions must be used, to the detriment of the accuracy of the results.

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Spatial estimation of large-scale soil salinity using enhanced inverse distance weighting method and identifying its driving factors

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management
Spatially regional estimates of soil salinity and identifying their main driving factors are critical for effective land management. However, the understanding of soil salinity variation remains limited due to challenges in using conventional spatial ...
