ABSTRACT This paper develops a mathematical framework for interpreting observations of solar inertial waves in an idealized setting. Under the assumption of purely toroidal linear waves on the sphere, the stream function of the flow satisfies a fourth‐order scalar equation.

ABSTRACT Numerical simulation of hydraulic fracturing remains challenging due to the strong coupling between geomechanics and fluid flow when modelling multiple physical mechanisms of rock deformation, fracture evolution and fluid leak‐off. This study develops a coupled hydraulic fracture propagation framework that combines the extended finite element ...

ABSTRACT This work presents a general framework for deriving the Young–Laplace equation and the Young's equations for an axisymmetric capillary bridge between two parallel plates by minimizing the system's total energy. These Young's equations naturally emerge as boundary conditions associated with the Young–Laplace equation.

ABSTRACT We analytically construct initial data for binary black hole systems by solving the Einstein constraint equations within the Bowen–York framework. Allowing for arbitrarily oriented linear momenta and spins, we obtain a perturbative solution of the vacuum Hamiltonian constraint up to third order in the source parameters. Our solution explicitly

Learning Vertical Coordinates via Automatic Differentiation of a Dynamical Core
Abstract Terrain‐following coordinates in atmospheric models often imprint their grid structure onto the solution, particularly over steep topography, where distorted coordinate layers can generate spurious horizontal and vertical motion. Standard formulations, such as hybrid or SLEVE coordinates, mitigate these errors by using analytic decay functions
