Inverse grading in granular flow

open access: yes, 2000
The current work concerns with the parametrical dependencies of inverse grading in granular flows from material properties of individual particles involved in the flow. The investigations were initiated and motivated by the search for an explanation of the function principle of the avalanche airbag, which prevents a skier from going under in a flowing ...

Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

The evaluation of hepatoma-derived growth factor in determining of prognosis and estimating of invasive probability of tumoral cells, recurrent, and metastasis of lymphatic glands in breast carcinoma

open access: yesJournal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, 2017
Introduction: Recently, hepatoma-derived growth factor (HDGF) has been considered as a significantly important factor in determining the prognosis and estimating the probability of tumor cell invasions, recurrence, and lymph node metastasis in different ...

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Quality control in Orange-spotted grouper, Epinephelus coioldes, during ice storage

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2010
Quality grading and nutrition value determination of fish are. nowadays necessary for aquatic processing. The present study was conducted to investigate a new, applied and cheap method of fillet quality grading for common carp (Cyprinus carpio) using ...

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

Determination of critical state line (CSL) for silty-sandy iron ore tailings subjected to low-high confining pressures

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
The disposal of filtered tailings in high dry stacks can induce particle breakage, changing the material's behaviour during the structure's lifetime.

Meshfree approach on buckling and free vibration analysis of porous FGM plate with proposed IHHSDT resting on the foundation

open access: yesCurved and Layered Structures, 2019
In the present work, new inverse hyperbolic higher-order shear deformation theory (IHHSDT) is proposed and implemented for buckling analysis and free vibration analysis of porous Functionally Graded Material (FGM) plate on the foundation.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.
