The inverse Banzhaf problem [PDF]

open access: yesSocial Choice and Welfare, 2009
Let \({\mathcal{F}}\) be a family of subsets of the ground set [n] = {1, 2, . . . , n}. For each \({i \in [n]}\) we let \({p(\mathcal{F},i)}\) be the number of pairs of subsets that differ in the element i and exactly one of them is in \({\mathcal{F}}\). We interpret \({p(\mathcal{F},i)}\) as the influence of that element. The normalized Banzhaf vector

Prodromal Lewy Body Disorder Features in REM Sleep Behavior Disorder With Biomarker‐Defined Synucleinopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Isolated rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) is a prodromal state for Lewy body disorders and exhibits biological heterogeneity that may influence clinical expression and progression. We examined clinical features in individuals with iRBD and biomarker‐defined synucleinopathy.

Intelligent computing in inverse problems

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2022
This paper presents a review of intelligent computing techniques in solving inverse mechanics problems. These techniques are based on Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) and the coupling of Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs ...

Spatial and Volumetric Characteristics of Glioblastoma: Associations With Clinical Presentation and Survival

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective We aim to comprehensively analyze how regional tumor and edema characteristics are associated with clinical presentations and survival outcomes in a large cohort of glioblastoma patients. Methods Patients with IDH‐wildtype glioblastoma who received brain MRI from 2010 to 2023 were included.

Topological optimization and inverse problems

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2023
The topological derivative of an arbitrary shape functional is introduced in [29] for 2D elasticity. The optimality conditions for general shape optimization problems are established in [30] using the shape variations including boundary and topology ...

Associations of Sleep and Shift Work With Osteoarthritis Risk

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Daily rhythms may be critical for maintaining homeostasis of joint tissues. We aimed to investigate the relationships among circadian clock disruption, sleep, and osteoarthritis (OA) risk in humans. Methods In the UK Biobank, a prospective 500,000–person cohort, we evaluated associations among sleep duration, sleeplessness/insomnia, and shift

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Concomitant ablation for non-paroxysmal atrial fibrillation: combined energy versus cryoablation alone

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
BackgroundSurgical ablation of atrial fibrillation has been the most efficient treatment for atrial fibrillation (AF). Combined energy (CE) ablation and cryoablation alone (CA) are the most common energy modes used for ablation, however, comparative data

Observer‐Based Adaptive Event‐Triggered Tracking Control for Fuzzy TS Systems With Premise Mismatch

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper presents an adaptive logistic event‐triggered observer‐based tracking controller for Takagi‐Sugeno fuzzy systems under constrained inputs and network delays. Leveraging a hybrid LMI and Secretary Bird Optimization approach, this strategy significantly minimizes communication overhead and computational burden while ensuring optimal reference ...
