Inverse spectral problems for nonlinear Sturm-Liouville problems
This paper concerns the nonlinear Sturm-Liouville problem $$ -u''(t) + f(u(t)) = lambda u(t), quad u(t) > 0, quad t in I := (0, 1), quad u(0) = u(1) = 0, $$ where $lambda $ is a positive parameter. We try to determine the nonlinear term $f(u)$ by means

Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

Photon Avalanching Nanoparticles: The Next Generation of Upconverting Nanomaterials?
This Perspective outlines the mechanistic foundations that enable photon‐avalanche (PA) behavior in lanthanide nanomaterials and contrasts them with emerging application spaces and forward‐looking design strategies. By bridging threshold engineering, energy‐transfer dynamics, and materials engineering, we provide a coherent roadmap for advancing the ...

We present a fully automated Bayesian optimization (BO) protocol for the parameterization of nonbonded interactions in coarse‐grain CG force fields (BACH). Using experimental thermophysical data, we apply the protocol to a broad range of liquids, spanning linear, branched, and unsaturated hydrocarbons, esters, triglycerides, and water.

Inverse problems in covariate data analysis
The fact that Pearson's correlation coefficient and effect size are perspective functions of covariance parameters demonstrates that how covariance is defined is one of the most important issues in data analysis.

On a Stochastic Regularization Technique for Ill-Conditioned Linear Systems
Knowledge about the input–output relations of a system can be very important in many practical situations in engineering. Linear systems theory comes from applied mathematics as an efficient and simple modeling technique for input–output systems ...

A Tomograph Prototype for Quantitative Microwave Imaging: Preliminary Experimental Results
A new prototype of a tomographic system for microwave imaging is presented in this paper. The target being tested is surrounded by an ad-hoc 3D-printed structure, which supports sixteen custom antenna elements.

Direct and inverse Robin-Regge problems
The Sturm-Liouville equation is considered on a bounded interval with a Robin boundary condition at the left end and a generalized Regge condition at the right end.

Inverse Problems in Pump–Probe Spectroscopy
Ultrafast pump–probe spectroscopic studies allow for deep insights into the mechanisms and timescales of photophysical and photochemical processes. Extracting valuable information from these studies, such as reactive intermediates’ lifetimes and coherent
