Exploiting the Functionality of Cerium Oxide‐Modified Carbon Nanohorns Catalysts Toward Enhanced CO2 Reduction Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A cerium oxide‐carbon nanohybrid catalyst is synthesized via two distinct routes and is integrated into H‐type cells and gas diffusion layers (GDLs) to enhance electrochemical performance. Structural variations significantly affect performance, with the solvothermal sample exhibiting higher current densities.

Positive Feedback Investment Strategies and Destabilizing Rational Speculation

open access: yes, 1989
Analyses of the role of rational speculators in financial markets usually presume that such investors dampen price fluctuations by trading against liquidity or noise traders.

Clean‐Limit 2D Superconductivity in a Thick Exfoliated Kagome Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports clean‐limit 2D superconductivity in a thick kagome system, analogous to the 3D case. It observes a drop in superfluid stiffness near the superconducting transition and a cusp‐like feature in the angular dependence of the upper critical field.

Resilience Improvement of Microgrid Cluster Systems Based on Two-Stage Robust Optimization

open access: yesEnergies
For microgrids in deep and remote sea areas, ocean currents are widely used as an emerging power generation resource. Implementing ES systems is crucial for smooth power output and grid stability.

LiST modelling with monitoring data to estimate impact on child mortality of an ORS and zinc programme with public sector providers in Bihar, India

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2018
Background Many interventions have attempted to increase vulnerable and remote populations’ access to ORS and zinc to reduce child mortality from diarrhoea. However, the impact of these interventions is difficult to measure.

Host‐Directed Biomaterials for Combatting Bloodstream Infections: From Macrocyclic Peptides to Immune‐Activating Cell Backpacks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bloodstream infections (BSI) are one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in both civilian and military populations. This paper summarizes recent progress in novel treatment strategies to manage BSI arising from both bacterial and fungal pathogens using molecules, particles, and materials to elicit host‐directed immunity.

Analysis on the Performance of New Mountain Gear Rail Train Brake

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
Objective The maximum slope of the mountain gear rail line can reach 250‰. As the sliding force generated by the component of the gravity is much greater than the maximum friction force between wheel and rail, relying solely on the conventional wheel and

Agricultural Investments under International Investment Law

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2018
Increased investment in large-scale agricultural, forestry, and fishing projects has raised concerns about pressures on lands and natural resources, and the negative impacts these investments can have when poorly regulated and irresponsibly operated.

Selective and Precise Editing of Digital Polymers Through Parallel or Series Toehold‐Mediated Strand Displacement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sequence‐encoded supramolecular construct containing two accessible toeholds is developed herein for enabling multiple editing operations. By introducing specific input strands, it is possible to selectively erase or rewrite digital content through parallel or series toehold‐mediated strand displacement (PTMSD or STMSD).

Active Investing

open access: yes, 2019
The chapters in this Ph.D. thesis explore three key issues on the topic of active investing. The first chapter discusses how to empirically test rational asset pricing models developed to explain asset pricing anomalies. The second chapter analyzes the costs and benefits of taking short positions when executing anomaly investing in equities.
