Development of Hot Isostatic Pressing Technology for Investment Cast Products

Materials Science Forum, 2015
Hot isostatic pressing (HIPping) technology is used for healing the casting defects for aerospace applications. Castings used for aerospace applications like turbo-pumps need to meet very stringent quality requirements. Complexity of the castings used in these applications, makes it difficult to meet the quality requirements in all the areas.

Predicting gas-defect formation on changing the investment-casting technology

Steel in Translation, 2013
The prediction of gas-defect formation in the low-temperature firing of shell molds prior to the introduction of steel melt is considered. The likelihood of gas-induced defects is reduced by low-temperature firing.

Application of Recycling Products of Aluminum Slags in Investment Casting Technology

Russian Journal of Non-Ferrous Metals, 2019
Based on studies of fractional, chemical, and phase compositions of Al-containing slags of different origin, it is established that they are multicomponent systems consisting of metal and nonmetal parts. The nonmetal part includes water-soluble and water-insoluble compounds. A practical flowsheet of recycling of Al-containing slags is proposed with the

Vacuum Induction Melting and Investment Casting Technologies Tailored to Near-Gamma TiAl Alloys

Materials Science Forum, 2007
The present study focuses on vacuum induction melting and investment casting of neargamma TiAl intermetallic alloys. The attention is mainly given to a cost-effective melting process in which a primary alloy ingot is re-melted in a ceramic crucible and cast into a ceramic shell mould. Two types of crucibles (based on Al2O3 and Y2O3) are considered. The

Study on Technology of Iron Removal during Recycling of Shell of Investment Casting

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Recycling of the shell of investment casting is meaningful. However, there are many factors which hamper the progress of this work, and one of these is that the Fe content is difficult to reach the standard under the present technological conditions. Through investigating and analyzing the sources of Fe in three factories which produce steel casting and

Dry vacuum pumping technology outperforms oil‐sealed pumps for investment casting

Preparation of Fiber-Reinforced Shell by Airflow Placement Fiber Technology for Investment Casting

International Journal of Metalcasting, 2019
A new process for preparing fiber-reinforced silica sol shells for investment casting is proposed. The influence of fiber length on bending strength of shell is studied under the condition that fibers are not agglomerated or clustered. Polypropylene fibers were suspended under the action of air currents and adhered to the surface of shell with back-up ...
