Abstract.A case of potassium iodate toxicity in a 22‐year‐old man was reported. After taking a solution of highly concentrated potassium iodate, the patient developed nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and blurred vision. The visual acuity was hand motion in both eyes.

The reaction of iodate with cystine and with insulin
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1966Abstract This communication reports that cystine can be converted rapidly and quantitatively to cysteic acid by iodate in 0.1–1 M HCl. Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1958Measurements have been made of the equivalent conductance of solutions of potassium iodate, at 25.00 °C at concentrations ranging from 0.8 × 10−4 to 16 × 10−4 N. The crystals are hexagonal, space group P63 with a= 16.107(2), c= 12.378(2)A, Z= 6.

Transition metal iodates-V: Preparation and characterization of the smaller lanthanide iodates
Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 1974The Ln(IO3)3 xH2O compounds of Eu-Lu, including Y, were prepared by precipitation, thermal decomposition, and by crystallization from the gel, from ambient and boiling water, and from boiling HNO3. Six groups of compounds were obtained and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, DTA, TGA, and infrared spectroscopy.

Growth of single crystals of barium iodate and strontium iodate in silica gels
Kristall und Technik, 1981AbstractSingle crystals of iodates of barium and strontium grown by gel method are reported. Optimum conditions for good quality single crystals are worked out. Different habits of these crystals are reported. A brief report for characterization of these crystals by different methods is given.
