THE LIMITING CONDUCTANCE OF POTASSIUM IODATE AND OF IODATE ION AT 25.00 °C

Measurements have been made of the equivalent conductance of solutions of potassium iodate, at 25.00 °C at concentrations ranging from 0.8 × 10−4 to 16 × 10−4 N. From this the limiting equivalent conductance of potassium iodate is found to be 114.41 mhos and that of iodate ion 40.91 mhos. The experimental technique is described. The ionic conductances

Crystal structure of aluminium iodate–hydrogen iodate–water (1/1/6) and preparation of anhydrous aluminium iodate

The crystal structure of the title compound has been determined by Patterson and Fourier methods using three-dimensional X-ray data and has been refined by a full-matrix least-squares procedure to R= 0.029 for 2 546 observed reflections. The crystals are hexagonal, space group P63 with a= 16.107(2), c= 12.378(2)A, Z= 6.

Transition metal iodates-V: Preparation and characterization of the smaller lanthanide iodates

The Ln(IO3)3 xH2O compounds of Eu-Lu, including Y, were prepared by precipitation, thermal decomposition, and by crystallization from the gel, from ambient and boiling water, and from boiling HNO3. Six groups of compounds were obtained and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, DTA, TGA, and infrared spectroscopy.
