Double‐Transition‐Metal MXenes: Multimetallic 2D Platforms for Next‐Generation Biomedicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The present work explores recent progress in double‐transition‐metal MXenes and focuses on their potential as multifunctional biomedical nanoplatforms whose tunable optical, electronic, mechanical, and surface properties enable imaging, theranostics, antimicrobial activity, biosensing, tissue engineering, and drug delivery.

Pharmacological prevention of delayed hypersensitivity reactions caused by iodinated contrast media

open access: yesWorld Allergy Organization Journal, 2021
Background: Delayed hypersensitivity reactions (DHRs) to radiocontrast media (RCM) occur in approximately 0.5–23.0% of patients and are thought to be caused by T cell-mediated mechanisms. However, an optimal pharmacological preventive strategy is not yet

Steric Coordination Modulated Iodine Chemistry With Four‐Electron Conversion for Zinc‐Iodine Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐additive electrolyte strategy is developed to address the hydrolysis of I+ in the aqueous electrolytes. The steric‐hindrance effect of TES− effectively shields I+ from nucleophilic attacks by hydroxyl groups, facilitating the reversible I−/I0/I+ conversion with four‐electron transfer.

Impact of PVDF Homo and Copolymer on Thiophosphate Solid Electrolyte Characteristics and Comprehensive Bulk‐To‐Surface Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study examines how a PVDF‐like binder affects the argyrodite Li6PS5Cl electrolyte properties. Using an approach that combines bulk and surface characterization with electrochemistry, we found a chemical interaction between Li6PS5Cl and PVDF, resulting in partial chlorine substitution by fluorine and slightly reduced ionic conductivity.

The prevention of anaphylactoid reactions to iodinated radiological contrast media: a systematic review

open access: yesBMC Medical Imaging, 2006
Background Anaphylactoid reactions to iodinated contrast media are relatively common and potentially life threatening. Opinion is divided as to the utility of medications for preventing these reactions.

Flexible Implantable Silicon Carbide Multi‐Electrode Array (MEA) for Cell Multichannel Recording and Cell Ablation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Flexible silicon carbide (SiC) microelectrode arrays enable high‐fidelity, multichannel cell extracellular recording and precise localized ablation. SiC has been extensively evaluated to persist long‐term in chronic physiological conditions while remaining robust, with excellent electrical and electrochemical stability.

Superselective intra-arterial infusion of cisplatin and concomitant radiation therapy (RADPLAT) using gadolinium-based contrast agent in a patient with severe iodine allergy: A case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports
Maxillary sinus squamous cell carcinoma (MS-SCC) is a rare malignancy that is often diagnosed at an advanced stage. We report a case of locally advanced MS-SCC that was successfully treated with super-selective intra-arterial cisplatin infusion ...

Carbon dioxide angiography and arterial embolization could successfully control postpartum uterine hemorrhage for the patient with hypersensitivity to iodine compound

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2017
Transcatheter arterial embolization has become a common management option for intractable postpartum uterine hemorrhage. Iodinated contrast agents are commonly used for embolotherapy but cannot be used in patients with renal dysfunction or iodine allergy.

Magnetic Micro‐ and Nanorobots for Precision Thrombolysis: Design Strategies and Translational Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Micro‐ and nanorobots for targeted thrombolysis. This perspective elaborates on the clinical indication of blood clot disorders and current limitations for treatment. As a novel, alternative solution, micro‐ and nanorobots can be used to treat and break down thrombi.

Changes in risk of immediate adverse reactions to iodinated contrast media by repeated administrations in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
BACKGROUND: To elucidate whether repeated exposures to iodinated contrast media increase the risk of adverse reaction. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 1,861 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who visited authors' institution, a ...
