Dose Calibrator Linearity Testing: Radioisotope 99mTc or 18F? An Alternative for Reducing Costs in Nuclear Medicine Quality Control

open access: yesWorld Journal of Nuclear Medicine, 2015
Dose calibrator linearity testing is indispensable for evaluating the capacity of this equipment in measuring radioisotope activities at different magnitudes, a fundamental aspect of the daily routine of a nuclear medicine department, and with an impact ...

Inferring Stellar Parameters from Iodine-Imprinted Keck/HIRES Spectra with Machine Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The properties of exoplanet host stars are traditionally characterized through a detailed forward-modeling analysis of high-resolution spectra. However, many exoplanet radial velocity surveys employ iodine-cell-calibrated spectrographs, such that the vast majority of spectra obtained include an imprinted forest of iodine absorption lines.

Saturation Spectroscopy of Iodine in Hollow-core Optical Fibre [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We present high-resolution spectroscopy of Iodine vapour that is loaded and trapped within the core of a hollow-core photonic crystal fibre (HC-PCF). We compare the observed spectroscopic features to those seen in a conventional iodine cell and show that the saturation characteristics differ significantly.

Modeling Iodine Deficiency [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
This paper presents a four-unit, four-component mathematical model of iodine metabolism and its impact on thyroid hormone levels in the body. We focus on the relationships between iodine (I-), triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) through the mixer, thyroid, sensor (pituitary gland), and metabolism. Iodine plays a

Mapping the deposition of C137s and I131 in North America following the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi Reactor accident

open access: yesAtmospheric Environment: X, 2020
The 2011 Fukushima Daiichi Reactor accident generated a large data set of global radionuclide observations. Frequent observations of xenon, caesium and iodine radioisotopes provided an opportunity to examine the performance of inter-continental scale ...

Polymorphism of monatomic iodine [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We applied synchrotron single-crystal X-ray diffraction in a diamond anvil cell at 48-51 GPa and first-principles theoretical calculations to study the crystal structure of solid atomic iodine at high pressure. We report the synthesis of two phases of atomic iodine at 48-51 GPa via laser heating of I-N2 mixtures.

Production Cross–Section Calculations of Medical125I Radionuclide Using α, d and γ Induced Reactions

open access: yesSüleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi Fen Dergisi, 2015
: Iodine radioisotopes are the most important radioisotopes used in the medicine, especially 125I. 125I is used in radiation therapy as brachytherapy source to treat prostate cancer and brain tumors.
