EFFECTS OF OZONATION ON THE SPECIATION OF DISSOLVED IODINE IN ARTIFICIAL SEAWATER

Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine, 2004
Iodine in the form of iodide is required for synthesis of tri-iodothyronine and thyroxine in fish. Iodine chemical speciation in aliquots of raw artificial seawater mix was measured before, during, and after exposure for fixed time periods to air only and to concentrations of ozone required to achieve oxidation-reduction potentials typical of a protein

Speciation of iodine (127I and 129I) in lake sediments

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2010
Abstract Fallout of anthropogenic 129I at northern Europe has been occurring since the early 1950. Nevertheless, it is still unclear where and how this radioactive iodine is incorporated in the surface environment. In order to elucidate part of this problem, we here present an investigation of the occurrence modes of 129I in varved lake sediments ...

Iodine speciation in the Nile River estuary

Marine Chemistry, 1999
Abstract During high- and low-flood periods, surface and bottom water samples were collected along the Nile River estuary for the voltammetric determination of dissolved iodine species. Iodine occurs in the estuary as iodate, iodide and organic iodine.

Iodine Speciation in the Rogoznica Lake

2004
Iodine is known to be the most abundant biophilic and redox-sensitive minor element in seawater. In specific marine sub-environments, such as Rogoznica Lake, the processes that affect both speciation and vertical distribution of dissolved iodine are found to be more intensive compared to those occurring in the oceans.

Sorption and speciation of iodine in boreal forest soil

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2016
The speciation and sorption of iodine was studied on humus and mineral soil samples in the initial chemical forms of iodide and iodate. Iodate was reduced to iodide in significant amounts especially in anaerobic soil conditions and in low pH. An unidentified, possible organo–iodine species was detected in humus samples and in aerobic mineral soil at ...

Iodine speciation in the water column of the Black Sea

Deep Sea Research Part A. Oceanographic Research Papers, 1991
Abstract Iodine speciation was determined on water samples collected from the upper 250 m of the Black Sea during 11–14 June 1988. Iodate, iodide and total iodine were determined by three separate voltammetric methods. In most samples, the sum of iodide plus iodate equalled the total iodine.

Chemical Speciation of Iodine Source Term to Containment

Nuclear Technology, 2002
Iodine species released into a reactor containment building following a loss-of-coolant accident is determined by the relative timing and quantity of iodine and other fission products released from...

[Research progress of atmospheric iodine speciation in aerosol].

Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2011
Iodine in the atmosphere directly influences on many kinds of photochemical reactions in troposphere, and indirectly poses impact on global climate change. It is thus that the research on the mechanism of atmospheric chemistry of iodine has attracted more and more attention. Iodine compounds in the aerosol are the final product of atmospheric chemistry
