We report a long-term (4.5 year) time-series with weekly resolution of iodide and iodate measurements made at 4 depths within the Bedford Basin: a 70 m deep, seasonally stratified, coastal fjord located near Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

HEO‐regulated electronic structure drives nonradical PI activation, promoting ETP‐mediated polymerization of 4CP into high‐molecular‐weight products with enhanced surface enrichment. Concurrent dechlorination occurs via radical coupling and •OHads attack, enabling efficient carbon retention and selective product evolution at the liquid–solid interface.

Rewiring Pyroptosis to Potentiate Cancer Immunotherapy via a Gasdermin D Agonist Bypassing Caspase‐3
This work introduces a small‐molecule agonist, DIBDO, that bypasses Casp‐3 to directly trigger GSDMD‐mediated pyroptosis in tumors. Activated by glutathione, DIBDO generates singlet oxygen and molecular iodine, blocking Casp‐3 pathways and inducing immunogenic cell death.

An efficient, enantiodivergent synthesis of phosphorylated oxindoles with quaternary stereocenters is achieved via a nickel‐catalyzed intermolecular Heck‐phosphorylation cascade. Employing a single chiral catalyst, either product enantiomer is selectively accessed simply by changing the alkene leaving group. DFT calculations trace this stereodivergence

Metal‐anode batteries using Li, Na, Mg, and Ca offer exceptionally high energy density, but dendrites, unstable interphases, cracking, and pore formation hinder durability and safety. This review shows how careful electrolyte and interphase design can stabilize these reactive metals.

Speciation and cycling of iodine in the subtropical North Pacific Ocean
Iodine intersects with the marine biogeochemical cycles of several major elements and can influence air quality through reactions with tropospheric ozone.

The Complete Plastid Genomes of Seven Sargassaceae Species and Their Phylogenetic Analysis
Sargassum is one of the most important genera of the family Sargassaceae in brown algae and is used to produce carrageenan, mannitol, iodine, and other economic substances. Here, seven complete plastid genomes of Sargassum ilicifolium var. conduplicatum,

Heterogeneous Iodine Chemistry Impacts Reactive Halogen and Oxidant Abundances
Tropospheric reactive halogens influence the oxidizing capacity of the atmosphere. Although previous studies have shown that iodine exerts the strongest impact on tropospheric ozone concentrations compared to chlorine and bromine, the impact of aerosol ...

Iodide, iodate & dissolved organic iodine in the temperate coastal ocean
The surface ocean is the main source of iodine to the atmosphere, where it plays a crucial role including in the catalytic removal of tropospheric ozone.

Observations of iodine speciation and cycling in the hydrosphere [PDF]
Iodine is an important element in oceanic, atmospheric, and terrestrial systems. Firstly, radical reactions in the troposphere can lead to significant ozone depletion, and secondly, nucleation of gaseous iodine molecules can produce new aerosol formation events, presenting possible direct and indirect natural cooling effects on climate.
