AbstractA liquid membrane consisting of an oil layer contained between two aqueous phases was found to leak when used to transport ions selectively from one adjacent phase to another. The source of the difficulty was found to be the formation of a separate aqueous phase within the oil layer.

ION-EXCHANGE MEMBRANE ELECTROLYTES
1963Abstract : The development of membrane electrolytes which permit higher power per unit of weight and volume, as well as long operational life in fuel cells is discussed. More specifically, this investigation resolves itself into the following specific aims: (a) preparation of membranes with catalysts attached to their surfaces, with ohmic resistances ...

Heterogeneous ion-exchange membranes
Journal of Membrane Science, 1981Abstract The field of heterogeneous ion exchange membranes is reviewed briefly. Specific advantages and disadvantages of heterogeneous ion exchange membranes are discussed compared with those of homogeneous ion exchange membranes. p]The development of heterogeneous ion exchange membranes is presented in historical perspective. The electrochemistry of

Perfluorinated ion-exchange membranes
Polymer Science Series A, 2013This review concerns the chemical structure and synthesis of perfluorinated sulfocationite membranes, among which Nafion, MF-4SC, Flemion, Aciplex-S, and Dow membranes are the most well-known representatives. Special attention is given to main mechanisms controlling the formation of microstructure and its relationship with transport processes and ...

Ion-Exchange Membrane Characterization
2015A series of procedures and techniques are applied to determine the different membrane properties. Microscopic examination yields information on heterogeneity of the membrane structure and in case of reinforced membranes the type of reinforcement used. The electrical charge of an ion-exchange membrane can be determined qualitatively by using indicator ...

Ion-exchange membrane chromatography
Chromatography is a powerful separation technique that has become an important unit operation when high levels of purity are required. The selectivity of the separation process depends on the interactions between the stationary phase and the mobile phase components.Onesti R. +4 more
