This study presents the optimal process parameters of zirconium nitride (ZrN) thin films prepared by ion-assisted deposition (IAD) technology combined with electron-beam evaporation based on plasma surface treatment and the Taguchi method. We use Minitab

A yeast model of 5‐oxoproline accumulation reveals a general toleration to 5‐oxoproline
Using a yeast model, we show that even high accumulation of 5‐oxoproline causes only mild cellular stress and does not trigger oxidative stress. Instead, cells adapt by activating efflux pumps and diverse protective pathways, suggesting that previously proposed harmful effects of 5‐oxoproline may arise from indirect metabolic imbalances rather than the

Active participation of “inert” YSZ substrates on interface formation in Fe3O4/YSZ heterostructures
The bulk and emerging interface properties of magnetite Fe3O4/YSZ(001) heterostructures grown by pulsed laser deposition are investigated. Fe3O4 thin films (4–38 nm) grow epitaxially in (111) orientation and undergo a Verwey transition at max.

Ion-assisted deposition of mixed TiO2-SiO2 films [PDF]
Mixed thin films of TiO2 and SiO2 were produced by coevaporation from separate electron-beam sources and simultaneous bombardment of the growing film with oxygen ions. The optical properties of the films were determined during growth by in situ ellipsometry and the surface composition of the deposited films studied by in situ ion scattering ...

The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Repair of neuronal DNA damage in Alzheimer's disease by KCL‐286. (A) Amyloid‐β oligomers and plaques impair neuronal DNA repair pathways, leading to DNA double‐strand breaks and glial activation. (B) KCL‐286 activates RARβ/RXR signalling via retinoic acid response elements (RAREs), associated with increased BRCA1 expression, enhanced DNA repair and ...

Deposition of nickel films by TVA
Plasma diagnostic techniques are essential for understanding of process parameters. In plasma-assisted deposition, ion energy and deposition rate are key parameters for technological control.

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral
