Molecular composition of dissolved organic matter determines lower-than-expected CH4 production in Mollisols under warming and atmospheric CO2 enrichment

open access: yesGeoderma
CH4 emissions from agricultural activities in response to anticipated climate changes, such as elevated temperature (warming) and elevated CO2 levels (eCO2), remain highly uncertain. In this study, warming, eCO2, and their combined effects were simulated

Tungsten impurity reduction by ICRH in a high power injection and high performance H-mode discharge on EAST

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The decrease in tungsten (W) content with the higher ion cyclotron resonance heating (ICRH) power is observed and explained for the first time in a high power injection ( P _inj > 10 MW), high performance ( β _N ∼ 2, β _P ∼ 2.8, n _e / n _GW ∼ 80%, f _BS

Plasma Wave-particle Acceleration as the Origin of the Galactic Gamma-Ray Bubbles

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The “Fermi bubbles” are two giant gamma-ray emitting configurations in the form of bubbles that extend above and below the Galactic plane. They are characterized by a smooth surface, sharp edges, and an almost flat intensity distribution.

Significant N-containing brown carbon emission from heavy-duty diesel vehicles revealed by the molecular and chromophore analysis using ultra-high resolution mass spectrometry

open access: yesnpj Climate and Atmospheric Science
Brown carbon (BrC) holds scientific significance by influencing radiative balance, cloud condensation dynamics, and regional air quality. This study demonstrated that heavy-duty diesel vehicles (HDDVs) emit substantially higher levels of light-absorbing ...

Electromagnetic ion cyclotron waves in the helium branch induced by multiple electromagnetic ion cyclotron triggered emissions

open access: yesElectromagnetic ion cyclotron waves in the helium branch induced by multiple electromagnetic ion cyclotron triggered emissions
Electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) triggered emissions with rising tones between the H+ and He+ cyclotron frequencies were found in the inner magnetosphere by the recent Cluster observations. Another type of EMIC wave with a constant frequency is occasionally observed below the He+ cyclotron frequency after the multiple EMIC triggered emissions.
