Three-Dimensional Ionic Covalent Organic Frameworks for Rapid, Reversible, and Selective Ion Exchange.

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2017
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have emerged as functional materials for various potential applications. However, the availability of three-dimensional (3D) COFs is still limited, and nearly all of them exhibit neutral porous skeletons. Here we report

Ion Exchange for Nutrient Recovery Coupled with Biosolids-Derived Biochar Pretreatment to Remove Micropollutants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Wastewater, especially anaerobic treatment effluent, contains high ammonia nitrogen (NH4-N) and inorganic orthophosphate (PO4-P), which necessitate additional treatment to meet stringent discharge regulations.

Ultra-cold ion-atom collisions: near resonant charge exchange [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Accurate calculations of the near resonant charge exchange crosssections in HD+, HT+ and Dr at very low energies are presented. The charge exchange process between an ion and its parent atom is a near resonant process that becomes inelastic when two ...

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Comparing Ion Exchange Adsorbents for Nitrogen Recovery from Source-Separated Urine.

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Technology, 2017
Separate collection of urine, which is only 1% of wastewater volume but contains the majority of nitrogen humans excrete, can potentially reduce the costs and energy input of wastewater treatment and facilitate recovery of nitrogen for beneficial use ...

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

Bioengineering facets of the tumor microenvironment in 3D tumor models: insights into cellular, biophysical and biochemical interactions

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The tumor microenvironment is a dynamic, multifaceted complex system of interdependent cellular, biochemical, and biophysical components. Three‐dimensional in vitro models of the tumor microenvironment enable a better understanding of these interactions and their impact on cancer progression and therapeutic resistance.

Protein O‐glycosylation in the Bacteroidota phylum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Species of the Bacteroidota phylum exhibit a unique O‐glycosylation system. It modifies noncytoplasmic proteins on a specific amino acid motif with a shared glycan core but a species‐specific outer glycan. A locus of multiple glycosyltransferases responsible for the synthesis of the outer glycan has been identified.

Analisis Kinetika Pertukaran Ion NH4+ dan H+ pada Zeolit Alam Lampung dengan Shrinking Core Model

open access: yesJurnal Rekayasa Kimia & Lingkungan, 2009
Ion exchange process between ion NH4+ and H+ by using zeolite as its ion exchanger is one of methods to purify water from ammonium ion content. Natural zeolites are chosen as ion exchanger because it is abundantly provided in Indonesia, especially in ...
