Ion exchange membranes in ion chromatography and related applications
Talanta, 2019This review is a broad survey of ion exchange membranes (IEMs) in chosen areas of analytical chemistry. The coverage is comprehensive in ion chromatography (IC) applications, this includes in-line water purification for IC use, chemical and electrodialytic eluent suppression, eluent generation, eluent purification, pH modification, buffer generation ...

Electrical capacitance of ion-exchanger membranes
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1967Abstract The electrical impedance of ion-exchanger membranes between identical solutions of uni-univalent electrolyte was studied. At subaudio frequencies there was a large capacitance (Farads/cm 2 ) which varied with frequency, electrolyte concentration, individual diffusion constant of membrane co- and counter-ion, and sign of membrane charge.

Transport in Ion Exchange Membranes
1986A polymeric matrix to which ionizable groups are covalently bound swells and imbibes water when immersed in an aqueous solution. Dissociation of the ionizable groups leaves charges bound to the matrix and counterions free in the absorbed water. When prepared in membrane form such polymeric matrixes are called ion exchange membranes.
