Ion exchange membranes

Hydrometallurgy, 1983
The name “ion-exchange membranes” arose because the first such articles were made by preparing in sheet form the conventional organic ion-exchangers available 30 years ago. The purpose of these membranes is not to exchange ions but to transmit them in a controlled way.

Ion Exchange Membranes

1980
Methods of preparing cation- and anion-exchange membranes with low areal resistances were developed for use in lower cost desalination of seawater. Membranes of both types were prepared having the desired resistance of 1 Ω . cm or less. Preparation involved using reinforcements to strengthen polymer compositions.

Studies on ion‐exchange membranes. XXXII. Heterogeneity in ion‐exchange membranes

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1970
AbstractTwelve kinds of cation‐exchange membranes were treated with hydrogen peroxide. Some of them (Selemion CMV, Nepton CR‐61, Scrion C‐100, SAM‐1) were completely destroyed. Heterogeneity is believed to be present in that part of their chemical structures that is decomposable by the treatment. The other membranes were converted into porous membranes
