Ion Exchange Technology Development in Support of the Urine Processor Assembly Precipitation Prevention Project for the International Space Station [PDF]

open access: yes
In support of the Urine Processor Assembly Precipitation Prevention Project (UPA PPP), multiple technologies were explored to prevent CaSO4 dot 2H2O (gypsum) precipitation during the on-orbit distillation process.

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

Integrated Lead/Iodine Management for Sustainable Perovskite Solar Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Perovskite solar modules face environmental risks from lead and iodine leakage. A dual‐function adsorbent—porphyrin‐modified whitlockite nanocomposites—effectively captures iodine and Pb2+, even under severe damage. Combined with a semi‐closed recycling process, it recovers 96.9% high‐purity PbI2 and reduces residual Pb2+ to <10 ppb, offering an ...

Two‐Photon 3D Printing of Functional Microstructures Inside Living Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates 3D printing inside living cells by using two‐photon photo‐lithography. A bio‐compatible photoresist is injected into cells and selectively polymerized with a femtosecond laser, creating custom‐shaped intracellular structures with submicron resolution.

Achieving Less Than 100 ppb Total Metal Ion Concentration in ESCAP Resins Synthesized by Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering
In the photolithography process of integrated circuits (IC) manufacturing, it is desired that the photoresist resins have both smaller polydispersity index (PDI) and lower trace metal ion concentrations.
